Just Us Girls Challenge # 243 Wildcard Shaving Cream Background

Yahoo!  My craft room sure smells good.  I was just experimenting with the background papers and the shaving cream.  I did a lot of them. You see, I like color, and I was dropping lots of different colors onto the shaving cream.  Then when you swirl, you get quite a lot of color.  Sometimes the finished product reminds you of something... and then you have a theme for your card.  For me..... that didn't happen.
So I watched the video again.  Here it is for you to watch too.
This time I used less ink and got a better result.

Here is my card for the Shaving Cream Technique
It sure is bold and bright.  The colors are, In The Navy and Jelly Bean Green.  The design paper is a strip from my stash.  I used Memory Box die called Vivienne Butterfly and cut it out of vellum and colored with a green Copic marker.  Then sentiment is a computer generated one.  You know, sometimes you want to say something on your card, and you just don't have the right stamp.  Don't forget that you can just your Word Program to print the one that you want.  The liquid ink that I used on my shaving cream are Stampin Up, Brilliant Blue and Yellow.  They are so old, I can't even see the label on the yellow any more.  But they still worked. Lol
Check out the other designers and see what they have done for this challenge and then get going.  If nothing else, it will smell so good while you are trying the Wild Card Challenge

Thanks for stopping by and this is my last week as the Guest Designer for JUGS.  A huge thank you to all of the designers  there.  It has been my pleasure to join in with them.  Something that I will remember always.   Just watch for me as I continue to compete in the challenges
and grow in my craft.

Simon Says Wednesday and Inky Paws #10

You know that sometimes, when you are in the process of making a card, you get an idea for another?  Well, that's what happened here, and that's why I have two cards to post today.  I made the first one for the Inky Paws #10 challenge which is wood, cork or metal, yesterday.
Here is that card.
I used the stamps set Newton's Birthday on embossed CS.

Before I posted it, I thought of this cute idea.
Why not take the stamp of Newton hanging from a wreath, and make him hanging from a window or something.  So I started out to make that card.  I finished it before lunch, but it is such a beautiful day here in southeastern Wisconsin, I sat out on the deck and fell asleep.  I'm sure that was quite a site!
Anyway, here is that card.
Can't you just see Newton waiting for me so come back home?  Well, that won't happen as I am allergic to cats, so the only ones you will see, are the paper kind. Love those.
For this one, I used the stamp from Newton's Holiday Mischief, and the sentiment from Basket of wishes.  The DP looks like colorful wood.

So I am entering these two cards in Inky Paws #10 and Simon Says Wednesday, anything goes.
They are showcasing Newton's Nook stamps.

Thanks for stopping by, if you care to leave a comment, I will be your friend forever.

Power Poppy Challenge

It was a beautiful weekend here this holiday.  Weather was amazing and sunny, yes it rained yesterday for part of the day, but that gave me time to craft.  And that I did.  I had the new May digital release flowers from Power Poppy and they are having a challenge with them specifically.  Need I say more?

In addition, they provided a sketch for you to use any way that you wanted.  It's always so much easier when you have a sketch.  Then you only need to pick out the colors, paper, coloring, stamp, and the embellishments.  Ha!
I decided to print out the Peony.  I remember them growing at my Grandmother's house when I was a kid.  A long time ago.

Here is the card that I made.
I started with kraft CS and layered sage and then a layer of DP from nature Garden by Jodie Lee.
The pale pink is from my stash and was die cut with Majestic Elements.  The flower was colored with Copic markers and then die cut with an oval die.  I used Pink Pearls to finish.  Lastly, I used the Pointillism  technique around the flowers with a very light E40 Copic, and then just a few dots with my Sakura glitter pen. You will have to look closely to see that.

As always, thanks for stopping by.  I do appreciate all of the comments that you may care to leave.  Have a great week and happy crafting.

Just us Girls Challenge # 242 Photo Inspiration

I' m joining these amazing designers at JUGS for the month of May.  What an wonderful experience this is for me to be their guest.    Thanks to the ones that have given me help and inspiration through this challenge.  I love the challenges and trying to do them just a little bit differently.

This is the photo that we are to use for inspiration and I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw it.  Please click on the other designers and see what they have done and how this photo inspired them.

I originally made this card in the black and white, but decided to tone it down a bit by using the Moonlit Fog Paper from Gina K.  Love that color and I use it a lot.  It is a pretty simple card, with the BG and then the focal image which was stamped and colored and then fussy cut and place on the front.
Here is the card

The die is from Lil'Inker and is cut from Ivory CS and place on a base of the Moonlit Fog.  The tulips are from a Year of Flowers Two.  I added glossy accents to the flowers, and then let them dry well before I bunched them together and added the ribbon.  I seem to need a lot of birthday cards, so I added a birthday sentiment from the Birthday Label stamp set.  I sponged the sentiment with the Moonlit Fog before taking it out of the die.  Added the tiny pink pearls to the label.
All papers and stamps are Gina K.

I would love to see how this photo inspires you!  Get going and make a card, and show us what you have done.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out the other designers for more inspiration.

Mod Squad Challenge

The Mod Squad Challenge this week is hosted by my friend, Judy
Woodland.  Triple the fun, it is triple stamping.  I was gone all last week on a wonderful vacation that I really enjoyed in Charleston, S.C.  I got some great inspiration there and a lot of good food.  But I wanted to get in on this challenge for my friend, Judy.  So, here is what I did.

On a base of white, I layered yellow and black CS, all from Gina K.  I used the butterflies from, A year of Borders stamp set.  In this case, I cut the border apart and stamped in versa mark and the white embossing powder.  colored a few of them with yellow copic marker and added a yellow ribbon from my stash and the tag.  The sentiment is one from a gift bag and I only used part of it.

Thanks for stopping, and thanks for any comments, as I do appreciate them all.

Just Us Girls Challenge # 241 Color

Boy are you going to have fun with these colors for the color challenge this week at JUGS!
This is my third week as guest Designer for May and I am having a blast. This challenge gave me some concern though.  I did a card, no problem, but when I took a picture, the color showed up more blue than Orchid.  Problem!!!!  Husband to the rescue.  He said, try taking a picture with your IPAD. Well that worked like a charm.  So happy for that suggestion. Sometimes husbands come in handy!  Lol  Love you honey!

Here are the colors, Kraft, Orchid and White.

Here is what I did for my card

I used Wild Orchid and Kraft and white CS from Gina K.
I stamped the Inspiration Mosaic on the white layer with Memento Black.  The flowers are embossed with white and are from A Year of Flowers Two.  There is a border on the side, cut with my Cameo.  I sponged the flowers with a lilac ink and they have such a soft look that I really liked.  Can you see
the whisper of something across the top left?  Yes, it is three strips of vellum.  Sometimes I can't leave things alone and I just keep on adding.  In this case, I liked it!  The sentiment is from Hello Sunshine set also Gina K.

I wonder what the designers at Just Us Girls  have done for this one.  Join me as I take a look.

So, come on!! Lets see what you come up with.  I can hardly wait.

Just Us Girls Technique challenge - Kissing!

I'm back again for the second challenge at JUGS for the month of May!  As Guest Designer, I am having so much fun here.  This week, try the kissing technique on your cards.  Here is a link to see how that works. Kissing Technique.

You will need a solid stamp, but look at your stamps differently.  I chose one that had a little design on it and it worked out well!  It was fun to just pull out stamp sets and see what they would look like with different kissing technique and colors.  Just remember to use a lighter color first and then a darker one.

Here is my card

This is a stamp from Stampin Up called, Thanks a Latte.  I used Kraft ink on the cup and kissed it with coffee beans in Charcoal Brown ink. The CS is Sweet Mango and White. All paper and Ink are from Gina K.  On the background circle, I used the cups again and a script stamp with the kissing technique reversed.  So I stamped the cups onto the script stamp in a lighter color.
The buttons are made from mini pony beads that are melted in the oven and I added the heart with Stickles.
Remember to go to all of the other designers to see how they have done the challenge.
Ok, Now it is your turn!  Lets see what you find to Kiss!

Mod Squad challenbge Blog

Ok, so I will be gone for a week and I just had to get in some card making.  I promise that you will not hear from me except, of course when I post for the JUGS challenge
There are some fun ones out there, and I will be watching.  I promise.
Ok, On to my card.

The Mod Squad challenge for this week is a really different one.  Use an image that you would usually use for a masculine card, but make it feminine.
My card is CAS.  Here is it.

When you don't have the stamp to say what you want, then you just write one.  So unique!
Thanks for looking!

Sieze the Birthday

                  Anything goes with Toppings, Flowers

This week at Seize the Birthday challenge anything goes.  Well, I made this card with some new techniques that I picked up at the stamp expo, from Heartfelt Creations.  Love these flowers, I made lots of them.  So it was easy to add the toppings of flowers.  I also used Spellbinders Decorative Labels eight for the layers.
This card was made for my aunt's 90th birthday this month.   I don't think the surprise will be spoiled.  I'm pretty sure she doesn't follow my blog.  (giggle)

This is a close up of the flowers.  I used lots of Wink of Stella here!
Small beads were glued to the centers.

Thanks for taking a look.  Have a great weekend,
I am off to visit Charleston.

Mod Squad Challenge Blog

One layer Wonder, is the challenge for this week at the Mod Squad Challenge.  I almost never to one layer cards.  I just love to, layer on the layers.  So this was a challenge that was really a CHALLENGE!
That is was makes this all so interesting. Testing your skills with something new.

I started out with a white base.  I sponged Sea Glass ink and Pear Tart across the front of the card after using a mask for the flowers and the sentiment panel.  Then I inked up some BG stamps that I had with the same inks and stamped the sentiment panel with London Fog ink.  The hearts, banner and sentiment are done in GKD black onyx ink.
I am pretty please with my one layer card.
