Go for the Gold!

Alert!  I recently lost all of my pictures on this blog.  That included my header and some badges and blinkies.  I have been trying to recreate them and I am still under construction.  I hope that I have your patience while I work at it.  I am only going back to the beginning of September for my posts. If you want to see older cards, you can check out my Pinterest page  HERE

I am Going for the Gold with Sandy Allnock this week and I have made a few cards that I will post in the next few days.  I have to say that she inxpired me to make Christmas cards, and it is not even Halloween yet.
You can find her lessons HERE
Here is my first one.
I stamped with Gold Texture Luxe  by Faber Castell for the script.  For more texture, I spread it on the ornaments, and then stamped with the script stamp.  They are Spellbinder dies that i have never used before.  The pine cone stamp is from GKD.  The image is layered on card stock that also has the paste on the edges.  Last a vellum strip with gold sentiment and some fine gold twine as bows on the ornaments.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I do appreciate your comments.  Please enjoy!

Mod Squad Challenge - Flower as the focal image

My friend Kathy Krug is hosting the challenge this week.  I fondly call her the "Queen" of die cuts.  She does them like no one else.  I hope she knows that I am trying my best to copy her technique.  I did lots of texture and layers.  How did I do Kathy?
Spellbinder Decorative labels 8
EFcut to fit in the center, Cuttle Bug wicker Weave
Flowers and Leaves from Heartfelt Creations
Sizzix Flourishes
Seed beads from my stash.

This will need to be a hand delivered card, as I am not clever enough to send it in the mail.

I will be entering this in the Mod Squad Challenge  that Kathy is hosting.

You could be a Card Design Superstar, MFT #4

I had so much fun thinking of this card and then making it.  She is just so cute and perfect for this fall. so I will get right to it.  I will enter this one in the, You Could be a Card Design Superstar.  You can enter up to 5 times and this is my 4th entry.

                              Card Design Superstar Guidelines
                                  Here is my fun card

Yes, you got it, it is a shaker card.  The trees in the background are die cuts from Memory Box called Tall Birch.  After gluing them to the base card, I put a sheet of acrylic over the top.  This was to stop the shaker elements from sticking to them when done.  The shaker leaves are from my stash along with some yellow and orange sequins.  I colored the Image with Copics, from MFT called Pure Innocence Thankful Things, and used the matching die to cut her out.  I also cut out some of the colored leaves in that die set to glue at her feet. Looking back, I actually could have cut a lot of those and used them for the confetti.  But now I have another idea for a card using those leaves.
Thanks for stopping in, I do appreciate your comments and look forward to seeing them.

Marvelous Marbling

I went over to Splitcoast Stampers to see the video on the marbling technique that Leslie mentioned on her challenge at this weeks Mod Squad Challenge. I needed a stamp that was solid and I chose the Stippled Nature stamp set from Gina K. Designs.  I did the marbling technique to all of the images.
Here is what I got.

Then I used Spellbinder Scalloped Borders Two to cut the panel on the left side and added another layer of Tomato Soup card stock.  The base is Sweet Mango.
I am entering this card in the Mod Squad Challenge that my very talented friend Leslie Turner is hosting this week.
Thanks so much for peeking in to see what I am doing.  As always, I do appreciate your comments.

Make It Monday #223: Camouflaged Pocket Inserts

I got my order from Paper Trey Ink today, but it was after I made this card for the Challenge.  I just have to say that I love how the new orders come packaged.  It is like Christmas, everything is wrapped in tissue separately and the card stock had cardboard on the corners to protect it in shipping.
OK, for the Challenge.

You can see how it was done Here by Dawn.  This is a very different card and I was so intrigued by it.  As it turned out, it was very easy to do, with just a little thought about how the tag will slide out, it was accomplished.

I started with a base of steel grey card stock and added a layer of design paper from My Mind's Eye.  I thought that the design went well with the feathers that i wanted to use.  The stamps and dies are PTI Feather finery and are cut from SU Pretty in Pink card stock and then stamped with PTI Berry Sorbet ink.
I actually colored the bird before I realized that there was a stamp for him too.  Silly me, I lightly stamped him over my coloring and really liked what I got.
Thanks for stopping in and if you leave a comment, I do appreciate it!  Hugs and enjoy!

Superstar card designer contest!

I found time yesterday to make another card for this challenge at My Favorite Things, while my hubby worked on fixing the bugs in my computer.  My computer is back to the way it was before he started working on it, but the original problem is still there.  Get my message?  It took all day and part of the day before to do this, as we developed many, many problems along the way.  Including completely loosing Blogger.  I was sweating, but now I can at least post.
So back to why I came here today.  In this challenge, we are to show off what we learned in Summer School.  Check out the MFT challenge HERE

This card shows off the principle of color theory....Gallon/quart/pint.
A gallon of Black, a quart of white and a pint of red.
 Here is my card.

The recipe:
MFT stamp Pretty Poppies ( stamped and fussy cut)
Dynamics die Cross stitched circle and Blue Prints 18
White and black Onyx card stock from GKD
GKD inks  Cherry Red, Fresh Asparagus, Grass Green
Red and Black Wink of Stella ( bought before I realized that all you need is clear!)

The blueprints die helped to make this come together, and I used only part of the circle die.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set, and I partially cut the banner to make it fit the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by, this contest says that I can enter 5 times.  You may see me again.  I am having fun.
Enjoy!  I just realized that this is my 300th post.  Yahoo!

Card Design Super Star Card Contest!

I was very excited about this contest, because I can use the lessons that I learned in Summer School.  Yes, MFT offered a summer school and I took the classes and made cards.  I was a good girl and got my homework done.  In this example, I am using the Secondary colors to show off the image, which I choose to use just in the left corner of the card. Leaving some "white space".
Here is my card.

This little girl is so adorable, and she was fun to color.  I used Copic markers on all of the images, and did a watercolor background.
Here is the recipe:
MFT Sunflower Sweetheart
MFT Primitive White card stock, GKD Sweet Mango card stock
Simon Says Frames Die, Distress inks in Peeled Paint and Broken China
Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents on her hat.

I cut and colored an extra sunflower and leaf and used pop dots for more texture.

Don't forget to check out the challenge MFT HERE

Here is a different view so you can see the popped out fence.
Thanks so much for stopping in, I hope that you enjoy enough to leave a comment. I do love them.

Sparkle and Shine

I am in my craft room today after a little time away.  I sure missed it, it is so therapeutic!  I wanted to make a sparkly card and that was the problem.  I have glitter everywhere, except on the butterfly.  I was pretty happy with the background, so I just stamped another butterfly and cut it out and then pasted it over the top of the really bad mistake.  I mean it was so bad!
This card will be entered in:
Mod Squad challenge, Birthday Sparkle and
Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes.

I sure had fun going through my old Stampin Up stamps.  I thought I should really get rid of some of them, but now, I am sure I will keep them.  You never know when you will need them.  Right.  Anyway, here are the stamps that I used.
Stampin UP  Swallowtail and flowers from Reason to Smile.  The leaves and swirls are from Ladybugs.
All are colored with Copic markers on a layer of Kraft card stock from PTI.  The base is Black Onyx from GKD. Then I put a layer of Wink of Stella all over the butterfly and flowers.  (it was a brand new wink)
Boy does it sparkle, wish you could see it.
Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. Greeting from Flowers and Frames, GKD

Thanks for stopping in, I hope that you enjoy!  I appreciate your kind comments.
