My Favorite Things

Well, I was gone on vacation for 2 weeks and when I returned to my craft room, I found that school is back in session.  Yes siree!  Summer School again!  Yipee.

Lesson #6 – Color Theory: Gallon/Quart/Pint
I had never heard of this before, but it sure makes sense.  Check it out Here

When combining solid colors, it’s helpful to use the gallon/quart/pint rule. Also, combining similar saturations often works best.

Here is my take on this lesson.

I started out with a base of White card stock and then die cut circles with the crossed stitched circle die from MFT.  The image is Green pastures and is also cut with matching die.  Her shirt is paper pieced and I have colored the rest of her with Copic markers.  I put glossy accents on her boots.  The sentiment is heat embossed with white and is from the same stamp set.  All of the papers are from Gina K Designs.  Before I adhered it all to the base, I embossed a layer of white with Tim Holtz folder that looks like sun rays.  I thought it needed some texture.  You need to look close to see that.

Well, that is my homework for lesson #6.  It was fun and now I am working on the next lesson.  I want to impress the teacher!  Lol

  4. Oh, isn't she just the sweetest thing? Love how you used the gingham for the background circle and also for her shirt....so clever. I also love how you white embossed the greeting on the black, very effective. And that cute little yellow chick is the perfect final touch. Oh, and I like the embossed white background too.
