Seize the Birthday Challenge #226 - Make a Sunset Scene

Colleen has chosen the theme for this challenge.  Just make a scene or
if you are not a toppings kind of crafter, just make sure it is a birthday card.

Here is my card.

I decided to make my card a late sunset scene and wanted to do a sun that we recently saw in the sky. I used a circle die to cut a sun in the center on a large sticky note and used that for a mask.
GKD Dusty Rose
Distressed In Dried Marigold and Weather Wood
The Stamp is GKD Tall Pines, By the Sea 2 for the birds
GKD Master Layouts 1 and Double Stitched Ovals
Buzz words from Honey Bee Stamps for the sentiment.

Paper Players Challenge 546

A new challenge for me.  My friend Nancy Leppek is a guest host t Paper Players.  I find that I have some time on my hands. What do I do with that?  I make a card. It is the sketch challenge for this week.

I pretty much stuck with the sketch as you can see by my card below.

GKD Chocolate Brown card base and panels of Coral Reef.
My friend Judy Woodland pointed out that I use gray a lot.  This card is for her. Lol
I used an embossing folder on the panels called Flower Pod by Darice
The Greetery Autumn word die cut three times from gold and the Botanicuts Wheat Die
The circle was a scrap from my box of a background that didn't work out. I am glad that I saved it
as it works now.

Finally a leaf card!

I do love the fall and all of the beautiful colors.  Of course, there are many things that you can color to represent the fall, like pumpkins and trees and gourds. But I didn't have a leaf stamp and die with me in Wisconsin.  I had a very nice one in Florida.  I guess that when something is unavailable, it makes you want it more. Well, that was my excuse. So after arriving at our winter home and getting my SCR (southern Craft Room) set up, I made a card. Are you surprised?

Gray cardstock
Paper Trey Ink Stamp and die, Leaf Prints
Gina K Stencil, Thick Brush
Distress Oxide ink, Speckled Egg
Simon Says sentiment
Glitter

Double D Challenge - Sunflowers

Darlene is our hostess for this challenge in October. Don't you just love these sunflowers that she has for our inspiration?  Sunflowers are just awesome and the flower of fall.

Here is the card that I made for this challenge.

I used two oldies but goodies.  As a matter of fact, this sunflower is my favorite and I have used it many times. It is Gina K Designs Stately Flowers 5 by Melanie Muenchinger and it is still available. I also used a cover plate from Paper Trey Ink called Sunflower. It is cut and I  adhered to a base card stock Skeleton Leaves from GKD. The sunflower in the small panel is heat embossed in white. I used GKD master layouts one. The sentiment is Tayored Expressions Simple Strips.
A few teardrops from my stash.
I managed to make a sunflower without using yellow!

Today's prize offering is: a 6X6 Stencil.  You could be a winner if you enter.

You have two weeks to play.  Please take a look at the team on the Double D Blog

Color Hues - Red and Kraft #28

A quick post here as I need to be packing.  We leave for the winter months in Florida where I will hook up with some of my crafting buddies/ good friends.
I love this color combination and could not resist. Unfortunately, I only had what I left behind and what was on my desk to create.
Here is my card.

I love the texture that the die-cut gives.

Power Poppy - Folklore Flora

I think that we can all say that this past 18 months or so has been life changing.  A time of reflection and feeling of gratitude that comes with family and friends. For me, I used my artwork to get through and I know that is the same for many of you. Thank goodness for the crafting world that I have become a part of and have loved every minute of. Making new friends and finding support were my rewards.

I have a surprise for those that love to color and find that creating is rewarding.  All of you know Marcella Hawley from Power Poppy.  If not, you should as she is the artist behind the scenes. She has been faced with some of the same feelings that we all have had these past months.  Since sending her daughter off to college, she has been sending cards with motivational thoughts to encourage her. She has created four drawings and motivational sayings for you print and color.

This release is a soft one, not the usual, but an easy one. Marcella has drawn four images of Folklore Flora. Each one has a deeper meaning. You can color them up, or print a  full color artwork image, available for the first time.
Here is a look at the images.

Fig : Enlightenment
Gourd : Plenty
Apple : Knowledge
Buckeye: Luck

I only had time to color up one card for you and I chose the Buckeye.  It is said that if you keep a buckeye in your pocket, it brings good luck.

Doing a little research on the buckeye, they reminded me of the chestnuts that were a part of my childhood at Christmas time. Here are some pictures of the Ohio Buckeye. These are not edible.

Using the pictures, I had fun coloring these up for my card

I also did some cleaning of my craft room recently and found these cute gift cards/ note cards that had ready-made envelopes. That is the fun of digital images.  I printed all of the images in a much smaller size to fit the cards that I already had. Lightly colored in parts of them and made this set to give as a gift. It was quick and easy. They could be used for this next holiday gift-giving season.

Some of the design team will be showing you more ideas on how to use these motivating and encouraging images and sentiments.
Take a peek at Power Poppy to see more.

More will be available in the upcoming week. Keep an eye out for them.

Seize the Birthday Challenge #225 - Use a Stencil

Our "Topping" option this time is...

If you are not into using the toppings, just make sure it is a birthday card.

Cathy is the host for this challenge and she wants us to use a stencil for the toppings.

We have a Surprise Party Guest for the next two months. She is Carol McFarland. You can find her blog Here

Here is the card that I did.

I made a stencil from this layering die below by cutting them from cardstock

I used each layer on another piece of cardstock. You can see the colors that I used.  The first layer has Gina K Designs White Glitz Glitter Gel that I mixed a little Jelly Bean Green ink.  You really only need white as you can make any color that you want.
The next layer was Turquoise Sea sponged on.
The final layer is Jelly Green Ink sponged on.

I cut each circle out with my Spellbinder scalloped die and ended up with six of them.
Placed them on a large slimline card and added a black strip of cardstock.  The sentiment is preprinted from Simon Says Stamps. This is still a flat card, easy for mailing in a business envelope.

On the inside, I used bits that I cut off from the ends.

Make sure that you stop by the blog too.

Global Design Project #312

I wanted to make a card today, but most of my stuff is packed for our transfer to Florida. Well, that did not stop me from digging through the stamps and dies that I will leave here. I was inspired by my good friend Nancy Leppek with a new to me challenge. The challenge is to CASE a designer.
CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit
Here is the inspiration
I liked the design and used my own colors and created this.
Supplies: Simon Says Stamp Wreath Greetings for the branches
Penny Black die Gaiety for the flower
Paper Trey Ink Sentiment,  Year of Psalms
GKD Master Layouts one.
All of these have never been used. Hmmm, maybe I should pack them too.

I am entering this card in the Global Design Project #312

Double D Challenge - Owls and/or Pumpkins

Here it is already October and the first challenge of the month for Double D is brought to you by Diane.  She has a sweet mood board for your inspiration, Just look at those owls and Pumpkins. It is your choice. I wonder what you will do?

I decided on the owl as I had a cute stamp and die set from Nt Favorite Things called Warm Featherd Hugs!  I had not used it yet and this was a good time. I went overboard and did a shaker card.
Here it is.

I used Memory Box stitched circle trees, Lil' Inker stitched circles so that I could layer the dies for the shaker part. W plus 9 snowflake die. There is GKD glitter on the top of that snowflake. The sentiment is from the owl stamp set.

This is the prise for a random winner.

If you need more ideas, please take a look at what the Double D Team has done.
Oh heck, take a look anyway!
