Make A Background
You can use anything but, patterned paper!
Love to do this, but I wanted to do something that I had not done before, or at least not in a very long time.  I took a look at You Tube, and came up with a technique that I had used only one time before.
It is the tissue paper technique.  Click here to see the tissue paper technique.

Here is another view of the shimmer on this card.

I started out with some watercolor paper and followed the instructions to adhere the tissue paper.  then applied two different colors of 3D Stamp Paint, copper and lt blue metallic.  They have a shimmer all of their own.  Next I about threw everything I could reach on it.  There is Gina K prismatic glitter, frozen.  Recollections Embossing powder, Periwinkle.  Just under the butterfly are Mica fragments by Stampendous. After this all dried, I really needed to adhere it to some chipboard to make it smooth.

This card really sparkles and shines and so I decided to make is CAS.  I just added a die cut butterfly using Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly.
and a sentiment from GDK stamp set By the Sea 2.  The sentiment is stamped on vellum with Stazon Black ink. And that is it!

I hope you enjoy and give this technique a try.  I think it really looks like Granite or Marble with all of the natural veins and colors.
Thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment.

  1. Wow! Your background is AMAZING! I can see all that sparkle and shimmer from here, gorgeous! I love the way it's looks all 'crackled' So smart to make it CAS so the background is the star, but that butterfly is quite pretty too and I love it in black, pop, pop, POP! (and Vellum, I love Vellum tee hee) I saw that technique when I was researching mine, I must try it! Well done, Barb!

  3. This is absolutely STUNNING!!! Gorgeous color and texture, and it looks crackled too. That butterfly is perfect, it doesn't take away from the background, but rather enhances it. I totally LOVE this card!!!! Oh, and love the sparkle too!!! It's a winner!
