Mod Squad challenge Christmas Floral

This is the picture that inspired me to make this card today. It is the Star of Bethlehem.

I went back to some older stamp sets from Flourishes and remembered the Star of Bethlehem that I had.  I wanted to stamp it and color it, but needed to look up the flower first.  That's when I found this picture and here is my take on it.

I ended up using my Distress markers and some water.  Since I didn't start out with water color paper, I was very careful to use just enough to blend the colors.  The base is PTI new color, Stormy Sea and then a layer of Christmas green from my stash.  Across the top is a banner die cut from Spellbinder, A2 Bracket border one.  The stamp set and sentiment are from Flourishes, no longer available.
Thanks for stopping by these busy days.  I do appreciate that you do.

Papertrey Ink November 2015 Blog Hop Challange

Use this inspiration pieces as a jumping point for your next project, which could be holiday or non-holiday
I love the non traditional colors on this inspiration picture and this is what inspired me.

Here is the card that I made yesterday for this hop.

On white card stock, I stamped the Brushed off stamp set with PTI Aqua Mist ink, and then sprinkled it with Recollections embossing powder, in Sparkle. It looks like icicles all frosty and shimmery. Then I used the Heart-2-Heart stamp set, which is balloons and turned them upside down to make ornaments.  They are stamped in Turquoise Sea and Pear Tart inks. The sentiment is from, Wreath for all Seasons.

I am also entering this in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge:  Holiday Card Here

This was fun to make and I have to give credit to Donna Phelan, who reminded me to enter this challenge.
Thank you to all you stop to take a look.

Make It Monday #232 Layered Stamping on Kraft

I made a quick card this afternoon, as I will be busy tomorrow.  Baking pies with my daughter for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday.  No crafting then, so I am going all out today.
Dawn shows us how to stamp on craft paper using THIS technique.  I used a stamp that I have not used before too.
           Here is my card.

I was much happier with it when I added the sequins.  lol

Stamp set is PTI Flower Favorites
GDK ink:  White, Wlid Lilac, Edible Eggplant, Sweet Corn, Fresh Asparagus and Dark Sage.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I know that you must be busy too.  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

Just Us Girls challenge #320

today's card was made for the Challenge at Just us Girls where it is color week.  My good friend Sharyn is the hostess and I love her challenge as it fits right in with the season.  We are to use Red, Green and Gold.
I went with a rather classic design as all of the colors fit is so perfectly and easily too.

The ingredients:
GKD heavy base and layering card stock in white.
Embossing paste with a snow stencil on the layer
Gold card stock layer
Stitched rectangle die Lil'Inker
Wplus 9 stamp Woodland Wreath and matching die.
Mememto Pear Tart ink
GKD inks, in dark Sage, Fresh Asparagus and Cherry Red
Gold EP
Wink of Stella in Red

This card has a really nice feel to it as the card stock is my favorite.  I will add this one to my stash of Christmas cards for this year.  I am getting quite a few, but I will  need them all.

Mod Squad challenge - Patteren Your Paper

I could not pass this up as my very good friend, the first crafty one that I made online, Judy Woodland is hosting the Mod Squad Challenge this week.  She has challenged  us to make out own paper and I have used the  Trees form KSS called Pine Trees.  This is the first time that I have used this stamp and I think that I will be using it a lot more.  The trees look so real, stamped over the polka dot paper, it looks like snow.  In my card, I have used them as a background for the image.  Not sure if this is what Judy was thinking, but it is what I did.  lol

Love this little guy driving his Christmas tree through the woods, home.  At least, I'm pretty sure he is going home.

Ingredients:  KSS, Pine Trees
Penny Black stamp, Joy to the world.
GDK Cherry Red card stock
GDK inks in Jelly Bean Green, Grass Green, and Fresh Asparagus
Polka dot Design paper from my stash
Copic markers

That is it for me today.  Short and sweet!  Now I need to clean up my craft room for tomorrow's crafting.

Inspired Embelishments

I completed this card with two challenges in mind.  There was a picture to inspire and the other challenged us to embellish the design. I chose a digital stamp from Power Poppy and sized it for fit on my card design.  Next it was colored with copic markers and layered on orange card stock after die cutting with Stitched Square die.  I used design paperd and three different ribbons in the back ground.

The digi is called Winter Pick Me Up by Power Poppy.
Papers are from PTI, Melon Berry and Autumn Abundance.  Ribbon and Judy dots, and button  from my stash.

I was inspired by the colors in this photo.

I am entering this card in Sparkle and Shine challenge HERE
And the Power Poppy challenge to Embellish This HERE

Thank you for stopping in today.  I love seeing you here and also the comments make my day!

Make It Monday #231

This week the Make it Monday Challenge was so much fun.  I was certain that when I saw it, I was going to make something, but never thought it would be so creative and FUN.  If you would like to see all of the excitement, check it out and see what Betsy Veldman did.

I knew that I wanted to make a tag for this one and now that it is done, I am not sure if I will put it on a card, or just leave it alone.   I found some Christmas papers from last year's Tinsel and Tag's kit and that was it!  I made a card.  Here it is.

The ingredients:
Card stock from the Tinsel and Tag's kit, Papertrey Ink
Smokey Shadow and white card stock, Papertrey Ink
Paper trey Ink Stamp sets,  Pretty Petals ( a freebie last December) and Quilted Spring
Inks:  Archival Watering Can, Memento Paris Dusk, Papertrey Ink, Aqua Mist and Raspberry Fizz
Poppystamps die, Stitched main Street Tags
Ribbon and brad from my stash.

I hope that you will try this one out, it was different for me, but so much fun and I love the results.
Thanks for stopping in and I do appreciate your comments.

Make It Monday #230: Cover Plate Watercoloring

The card that I made for this post is for the, Make It Monday Challenge #230, Water Coloring using a Cover Plate.  since I did not have a cover plate that worked for this challenge, I die cut my Dangles stars onto a piece of masking paper and used the negative as a cover plate.  I placed that on the top of an A2 side fold card and proceeded to used Distress inks and water colored it.  The inks are Peacock Feathers, Broken china and Black Soot.  I love the dreamy look that I got, but decided to used the other die in the set to cut some stars in Blue foil paper and adhere them as you see.  This was mounted on Ocean Mist card stock with an embossed strip of Turquoise Sea paper on the side.  There is a small strip of Silver paper to set it off.  Then I stamped the greeting from PTI's Tinsel and Tags set.  Lastly, I sprayed the entire card with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls.  So it all shines.  It also ran, i forgot that I used water based ink and so I got the dreamy look that I am OK with, but it was not my intention.  Live and Learn.
Here is here you can see the technique that Ashley DID.
Here is my card
Thanks for stopping by to see my entry today. I do appreciate your thoughts.

CASEing a Genius

Kelly Latevola is celebrating her one year anniversary with a challenge. You can find all of the instructions Here
I chose Lindsey Amrhein to CASE.  There were so many ones with beautiful cards to CASE, but the one that Lindsey did really caught my eye and I thought it was one that I could do.

CASEing Genius: Lindsay Amrhein  You can find her  BLOG  here

Here is the card that I did to CASE Lindsey.

I used some designer paper from SU and stamped the  flowers and leaves from Summer Garden stamp from Simon Says,  then colored with Copic markers.  I  cut the HUGS die from PTI and layered it times three and placed it back in the negative.  Look hard to see it in the picture.

Here is another view.

Part of this challenge is to nominate someone for a future genius.  I have been a admirer of  another card maker for some time and I would like to nominate her.  I don't think that she will be surprised as I usually say that I want to be just like her, when I grow up.  Her name is Sharyn Polesel and here is her blog.  http://www.mycraftyplace281.blogspot.com/    Check it out!

Thanks to everyone who stops by to see my entry in this challenge.  I love the comments that you may care to leave.

Make It Monday #229: Fabric Strip Christmas Trees

Today's tag is for the challenge at Make it Monday.  You can see Melissa and how she does it HERE
Originally, I wanted to used paper instead of fabric, as I don't have mush fabric around any more.  I did try to used paper strips, but it doesn't work. Believe me! So, I went to JoAnn's, and bought some small bundles of green fabric.  I try to make something different when I do challenges and tried to make an ornament, but that did not work.  So I gave up and did the tree, which everyone seems to be doing.  I put my tree on a tag, which works for me. The grand kids are coming for an over night stay.  I may get them to make a few for me, as it is pretty easy.  That is not child labor, is it?
                                                            Here is my tag!

I am entering this tag in the Make it Monday #229 challenge, Fabric Strip Christmas Tree

I used the Stitched fishtail die from Die-namics, and kraft paper from GKD.  I had stamped a butterfly and flower in white from another project, that did not make the cut.  The edges are sponged in Distress ink, Frayed Burlap.  After making the tree, I used hot glue to adhere it to the tag.  A few embellishments from my stash and I was done. Fa la la la la !

As always, thanks for stopping by and if you care to leave a comment, I love them.

Learn Something New Every Day

The card that I am posting for today, is one that I have wanted to make for a long time, it seems.  I saw it on Pinterest and ordered the stamp set, finally.  After getting the stamp, it laid on my desk for quite some time and then got filed in my drawer.  That is how it goes sometime. I am so glad that I pulled it out and made this card using watercolor.  I love to do watercolor and I also learned that I should use a good paper when doing it.  My cards are a bit warped even though I used strong glue and fun foam behind the entire panel.
We  learn something every day.

I am entering this card in the Just Us Girls Challenge this week as my good friend Sharyn Polesel is the host.  She is an amazing crafter, I want to be just like her, when I grow up.

Here is the card that I did.

I made two cards with this stamp set using different colors.  The one with the Hello is not a one layer card.

Here is the Pinterest card.
