Make It Monday #273: Spinner Cards

What a fun way to make an interactive card.  I can't say that I have ever made a spinner card, and this was a special challenge.  Most of you that know me, are aware that I am not at my home base.  Therefore, I don't have all of the supplies that are needed.  I was only lacking the thread that I needed for a spinner card.  Do I run off to find a store, and buy a spool of thread?  I am too impatient when I get a card idea, so I searched in my travel bag and found a small sewing kit that has been there for years, in case of an emergency.  There, I found a small length of white thread that I needed.  This will be just one chance to accomplish the task, as that was all there was.

Check out how Lizzie makes her spinner card.  She used a heart which is appropriate for the Valentine holiday, but I have made enough Valentine cards and was thinking in another direction.  This is what I came up with.
Using the dies and stamps from the PTI set, Uncorked, I made this card, following Lizzie's instructions. The base is Dark Chocolate card stock with white layer on the top.  I die cut the glass out of gold foil paper and also used that along the side of the white panel.  I also used my much used, stitched rectangle and circle dies from Lil' Inker. This angle best shows the gold foil paper. That sentiment says it all.

I will be entering this in the Make it Monday challenge this week.  Click on Lizzie's name to  find that.

Black and White

Over at DD, they are still celebrating their 1st Blogaversary!  That means another birthday card for the celebration.  I went with an inspiration from Pinterest this time.  You have all made this type of card and it always turns out great.  Using only Black and white, no other colors, and the inspiration board above.  I liked the colors, the butterflies and the pattern of the bottom pillow.
Here is my card.
I used stamps from the Sending Love kit by Gina K designs. I this case the design in the corner was not big enough for what I wanted to do, so I used some of the smaller stamps in the kit to extend the pattern.  After stamping and coloring with white and black Prismacolor pencils, I die cut the rectangles.  I added a panel of black card stock to each white panel. Used a black marker to enhance all of the stitched lines about each rectangle. The butterfly is from the same set and was fussy cut and I used foam squares to paste it on.  The butterfly has black Wink of Stella and rhinestones.  There is clear Wink of Stella on the flowers.  I wish you could see it.  Then a white ribbon to hold the tiny tag, which says Happy Birthday.

I finished the inside of this card with two rows of stitches on the left side.
I will be adding this to the Challenge at Double D

Thanks so much for stopping by to get a closer look. I do appreciate your lovely comments, they brighten my day.  I'm going to be watching football today.

Make It Monday #272: Masked Heart Wreaths

Well, the third time is the one that worked.  I started out with a pink card base.  I used the another stamp for the flowers and leaves.  Did not like that.  Switched to different stamp and also a white card stock.  Bingo!  Got one.
I used a really cool EF from Memory Keepers, a Christmas gift.  It looks quilted and really adds texture to this card. The stamps that I used for the flowers and leaves are from PTI Graden Gate.  They worked so well for this technique.  I did color some of the panels inside the heart with a C1 copic marker.  Rather hard to see in my picture.  I then used the technique used by Melissa to make the heart wreath.

This panel is adhered to a pink base and I added the die from Simon Says Stamps, Heart Smile.  They were cut form white and pink card stock and off set.  Last, I added a few pink sequins to the front.  On the inside, I will probably add.... IS YOURS.
This will be entered the  Make it Monday Challenge this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. They always brighten my day.

Winter Wishes - Paperwhites

I could not help myself.  I have wanted to stamp and color this set for a long time and it just did not come up.  Until today and this challenge.  Can you guess what stamp set I am talking about?
It is the beautiful Glistening Paperwhites by Marcella of Power Poppy.  I remember, when it was first introduced, that one of Marcella's designers posted a tutorial about how to color white. That was where I went to see how to do this one. It was Christine Okken and I found it HERE
She shows several different ways to color white.  Luckily I had some of the colors that she used.  BV000, BV02 and G40 ( I used G43)

I am still into using frames for my background and I did that too on this card.  Here is what I used.
Poppy stamps die Festival Tags, Ocean Mist Card stock Gina K, Striped velum paper PTI,
There were two sentiments that I could have used on that set. This really extends my Christmas
stamps.

I will be adding this to the challenge this month at Power and Poppy called Winter Blooms.

Thanks for your comments that brighten my day.

Mod Squad Challenge for January

As we start out a new fun filled year of challenges for you, we also have a new web site.  It was as scary to me at first, but I hope I can still inspire you with my cards.
My Challenge at the Mod Squad this week is to use Sequins, Rhinestones or Glitter.  Really anything that sparkles.

When you are reading this, I should have left the  cold and snow in Wisconsin and am now in sunny Florida. but I was inspired by the gorgeous Chickadee in Barberry digital stamp by Marcella from Power Poppy.
This is a great setting with the snow on the branches of the tree.

Here is the card that I did for this challenge
Isn't this chickadee sweet? He is  colored with copics and I added some glitter and glossy accents on the berries, and a red foil Hello.
This is a better view so that you can see the texture and glossy berries.
Lets see what you can do for this challenge.  You always come up with some great ideas and you inspire me!  Thanks for coming by for a closer look and for brightening my day with your comments.

Hot House Roses - Power and Spark Challenge

Stacy wants us to use winter blooms for this challenge.  I am hoping, if a flower  is grown in a hot house over the winter, that would be acceptable. If you want a rose in winter, in Wisconsin, it must be from a hot house. I had some digital images of roses that I had colored some time ago and wanted to use them.  They are so refreshing and a wonderful relief from the winter snow and cold. I love roses.
Here is the card that I made.

For this card is simply printed two images of the Rose and Chamomile and fussy cut them out after coloring with copics.  I decided to highlight them in a circle and used some green( it really is green, but looks blue here) gingham paper from My Favorite Things Homespun pack.  I liked how this looked so much that I used a leftover circle to die cut Hello with Simon Says die and used the negative. I inserted the white Hello into that negative.

Here is a close up of the hot house roses.

I will be entering this in the Power and Spark Challenge

This challenge last for a month and there is plenty of time to enter.
Thanks for making my day with your comments.

Congrats on your first year

Wow, it has seemed like a long time since I have posted anything or even made a card.  The holidays were busy and those of you that know me also know of some other issues that made time to craft difficult.  Then there was are annual trip to Florida for the winter.  But we are here now, and I have set up my new craft room and I am working again.

I am entering this card is these challenges.
Double D Challenge - Anniversary Celebration Here
Simon Says Monday -  Fresh start, use something new Here
Simon Says Wednesday - Anything Goes Here

This is the inspiration board for the Double D Challenge.

Here is my card.

What do you do, when you do not have the right color card stock?  Use your inks!  This is a white card base and a white layer.  I used GKD ink in Peach Bellini and inked around the edges. I also inked up the embossing folder with the fireworks and embossed that.  I fussy cut the birthday cake from the Power Poppy Stamp, called Party Time.  The first time I have used that. After adding the sentiment from the same stamp set, I put some stars in the correct places.  These are also the first time using them.

Well, now I feel better.  Got a card made and posted and now I can enjoy the sunny Florida day.
Thanks so much for brightening my day with your comments.
