Dies R Us - Happy Fall

I am on the Dies R Us Inspirational Blog today with this fall card.  I just love the colors of fall.  Not just the colors, but the feel of the cool air and the smell of home cooked foods that go along with it.
I decided to make this card with all of the delicious color and leaves.
I pictured the leaves blowing and tried to show that on this card.
I used water color paper and die cut the Leafy Breeze die from Memory Box in white.  I left the leaves in the die and colored them.  This worked much faster, as I didn't need to be careful  about my coloring. Sorry for the out of focus picture.

Next I cut the die again and trimmed the sides like this.
Then I channeled my best Jennifer McGuire and placed each leaf back into the die that you see here.
It took a bit of time, but I think the finished card was worth it.
Along the right side of the die that I trimmed, I glued some gold cord and then heat embossed the sentiment in gold, from a set by Power Poppy. I then added more leaves and vines to the upper left and lower right corners. The are from Poppy stamps Stitched Pumpkin Leaves.
Here is a tip.  After heat embossing the sentiment, my card was warped.  To make it better, I sprayed lightly with water and put the card under a heavy book.  That fixed that.

Thanks for stopping by and if you left a comment, I really do appreciate them.  They make my day much better.

  4. I love this so much. I think inlay is just about my favorite technique to do with dies. And it's so much fun to work the "puzzle". Your colors are perfect for this fall card, especially with the white card base. And coloring the die cuts is genius....I would have been die cutting in all different colors. You are so stinkin' clever, my friend!!!

  5. Beautiful design and colors. I love the inlay look and it is worth the time. That cording along the edge is just perfect. so many times I need something to separate parts of a design and everything is too wide. Never thought about this and the good thing is that you can shape it like you did here. Thanks for the new idea.
