Patriotic / Support Our Troops

For this challenge we are to think of the holiday coming up this weekend and the Patriotic theme.  I remembered an old stamp of an American flag that I have and used that.  The background is Lil Inkers diagonal stitched die in white, over a navy base. Flowers are Azalea by Power Poppy and colored with copic markers, and fussy cut.  I used a die from My Favorite Things, Lamp Post to make the flag holder. It was cut from gold foil paper.  And that is it!  A quick card. I hope that I inspired you to create an entry, it is still time.  Check it out Patriotic / Support Our Troops

Make It Monday #250: Masked Backgrounds

Today's card is for the Make it Monday Challenge by Laurie Willison.  She simply shows us how to make a masked background.  I just followed her example, as it has been a long time since I have done this technique. Watch Laurie do it Here
Here is my card.

I was thinking of those pale yellow, almost white peonies in Grandma's garden when I colored these beauties with pale yellow and a touch of pink.  After Masking off the borders, I used three Distresses inks.  Dried Marigold,Wild Honey, and Rusty Hinge.  Added a few drops of water for texture and die cut the word Believe, with a Memory Box die.  I added white fun foam to pop it out a bit.  The flowers were heat embossed with white powder and colored with copics and a bit of Wink of Stella, Clear.  I used the stamp set from PTI called Peonies on Parade.
Last, just three dew drops of Crystal Drops.  The front is adhered to  fun foam and then to a top folding base of white card stock.

Power and Spark Challenge entry #2

Yes, It is me again and I am back with another flower that I colored with a digi stamp from Power Poppy.  

I love the Countryside Bouquet and used it often.  Here, it is enlarged, as I and planned on only using the beautiful Poppy images.  Love those flowers.  After enlarging the image, I colored it and, when I had what I wanted, I used a die to cut it out.  OK, this is where it all started to go wrong.  The die slipped and made a rugged cut on the top right.  So I decided that I liked the image so well, I had to salvage it. I fussy cut the flowers out, leaving the bottom half of the die cut visible. Everything is going good now.  So I used another die to put on the base, DieNamics stitched diagonal die.   Cut out the panel of design paper in red checks and put my poppies on top of that.  Next, I die cut the Happy Birthday from red foil paper. Then I adhered the whole thing on to a white card base...... upside down!  Didn't notice it until the glue was dry.  Not a loss yet!  Just cut off the front and made another base for this card.  Love it when you can make it good, even after an unhappy start.

May Inspiration Challenge Altenew

          May Inspiration Challenge: From Places Abroad, Australia
     
           
Several things inspired me in this picture, it is part of a tiled mosaic at the top of Mount Coot-tha in Brisbane.
I have never been to Australia, maybe some day.  I liked the circles of the blues, yellow and brown so I wanted to incorporate that in my card.  I will be entering this in the Challenge for May at Altenew
Here is what I came up with.

I cut stitched circles with the die from Lil Inker of brown and yellow.  They are inlay-ed in the front of the card. Then I just had fun stamping different colors of blue ink to get what I have here.  I ended up with Stampin Up Pacific Point and Memento Paris Dusk and then Burnt Sienna to get the deep colors in these flowers.  The stamp set is the beautiful Peony Bouquet by Altenew.

Mod Squad Challenge Rediform Technique

I have not done this technique and really wanted to try it.  I admit that I have seen it before, but this was the time to give it a try.  Since my BFF, Donna Phelan, is the host for the Mod Squad Challenge this week, this is the technique that she has asked us to do.
I pulled out a stamp set from Gina K Designs called, Just a Note, designed by Rupa Shevde.  It has never been used before and has musical notes and instruments on it.  I used Distressed inks in two pinks and two greens, and masked off my areas.  Then stamped with the musical instruments, in  Momemto Rich Cocoa. Stamping off once .  Just added the ribbon and the flowers that I had made a few days ago with Heartfelt Creations stamp and dies called Sun Kissed Fleur. 
Here is the card.  The Retiform technique is the background for this card.

Power and Spark Challenge for May

                                         

The challenge this month at Power Poppy is simply to make a project with a flower on it.  You can see all of the details here.

I Thought I would try one of my digital images that I have and I am so happy that it can be  sized to fit any space.  I have place it on my card slightly left of middle to allow a die cut to be use.

Supplies used:  Digital Cone Flower,  Memory Box, Distress Windham collage die, Sentiment from Power Poppy, Small But Mcighty Affirmations, Altenew butterfly, sequins from my stash. Copic markers and white gel pen.

I watched the video by Allison Cope on Power Poppy, Inspire My Monday.  She has some wonderful coloring tips that I used here.

Graduation Card

Boy, it is dark and rainy here today!  The report says that it will be that way all day.  Oh My Goodness, guess that I will need to stay in and make crafty things. Just so you know,  I really don't need a rainy day, but it is a good excuse.
Using stencils is the theme for these two challenges that I want to enter this card in. 

Make It Monday #248: Ink Blending Through Die Cut Masks

 I made a stencil with a die from Papertrey Ink called Graduate.   It is the cap that we see worn on graduation day.  I also cut a balloon die from Papertrey Ink called, Celebration.  I used the cap as a stencil and sponged Distressed ink in Pumice Stone leaving the hat white in the background.  I wish I had used a different color, but another time.  I water colored the balloons in light blue and popped them up on the background with a banner from the same set.

Double D Challenge

The theme is Mother's Day- Happy Birthday and we are to use the tile board below to inspire us.

 

There is a lot of inspiration here, but I chose the heart shape and the pink color with a little touch of lavender.  I had a stamp set in mind and I went with that. The tile board really gives me a feeling of spring too. So I will get right to it and here is my card.

I used the stamp set and matching die from Simon Says called Roses for You.  The image is colored with Zigs watercolor pens and die cut.  Since my Mother has gone to Heaven 10 years ago, I made this a card that could be used as a birthday or Mother's day card.

Make It Monday #247: Watercolored Card Sets 

I got a request from my sister yesterday.  She is a realtor and wanted some cards that she could send out to her customers that bought houses from her.  I set about making something that I thought would be special and fun.  Lucky that I was able to enter it in the challenge at Papertrey Ink this week.  Just click on the title above to see what it as all about. 

I was very happy that I could use a Christmas stamp set and dies that I have had for a couple of years.  That set is Tinsel and Tags stamp and dies.  I used the trees and the house to create a scene for my note cards.  All I had to do was eliminate the snowman and stamp and color them.  The trees are green, but look brown in the picture.  For the sentiment, I used the Swoosh stamp set.  Once I had a sample made, it was pretty quick to make 3 more using my MISTI.  I added some design paper from Gina K Designs, and a strip of white paper that I scored for some texture.  I hope she will likes them.  If she does, I may have to make a ton more.  She is a pretty successful realtor.

Mod Squad Challenge - April Showers Bring May Flowers

I was so very excited to see Jennifer McGuire technique.  I knew immediately that I wanted to do this technique as an example card for this challenge.  First I want you to see how Jennifer did it Here

This technique is called the Vellum  Overlay card.   You need to use a good quality of vellum for this as well as embossing powder and line stamps.  I found the perfect stamps at Gina K Designs.  The two that I used are A Year of Flowers 3 and Wild Blossoms. 

                              
Following Jennifer's instructions, I  only made one change.  I used a larger card stock  base under the vellum, as I thought the card would be more easily handled and hold up better for mailing.
 

After stamping the cascading flowers on the top folding base card as I wanted them to be, I colored them with copic markers. I stamped the vines with Grass Green ink from Gina K Designs.  Then inserted the base into the vellum and stamped exactly over the top with versa-mark and white embossing power and heat set them.

Here is what the card looks like with the vellum opened.  You still have the top folding card to write a message inside.  Lastly, I added the crystal drops to look like the April raindrops that bring the May flowers.  This made a very unusual and different card to sent for any occasion.  Watch Jennifer's video, as she explains it better that I.

Challenge #48 - Anniversary

Dies R Us is celebrating their 2nd anniversary.   The challenge is to make an anniversary card.  When I thought of the card that I wanted to make, 

 thought of gold and red roses.
