We have had a busy traveling summer so far. We just had a wonderful weekend in Minnesota and are now back home for the next 5 weeks, and I am ready to play in my craft room with all of you. Melissa, At make it Monday, has shared some tips and tricks with us for spritzing your stamps to make an watercolor effect.
I played around with several different stamps sets before I found the one that I wanted to use. You really need a two or three step stamp set that will give you the best effect. I used the never before used stamp, Text-style leaf prints. Boy do I love how this stamps set works and I will bring it front and center more often. I also used the Stamping Simply Swoosh, both from PTI. The only colors that I used are Tim Holtz, Distress inks in Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, and Forrest Moss.
I stamped the images of leaves randomly onto watercolor paper with the first color, using the technique the Melissa showed how to do in her video, and then stamped the second darker color over the top. I used a dark brown ink for the sentiment and then placed the panel onto Dark Brown card stock and a base of Simply Asparagus. to finish, I spritzed the lightest green and some gold into the entire card. I made this a birthday card as I will need plenty of them in the month of August. I think this card will do for a masculine one. August is right around the corner and I an wondering where the summer has gone.
I will be entering this card in the Make it Monday challenge.
Thanks for stopping in to take a closer look and if you have left me a comment, Thank You!
Love this, Barbara! Why didn't I think to try that stamp set? Guess I'll just have to make more cards using this technique. Your scattered leaves and splatters definitely works for a masculine card - another big plus. Agree with you about where the summer has gone. Enjoy the rest of it!
