Timeless Tuesday #244: Plaid or Houndstooth

Katie is the hostess for this weeks Timeless Tuesday #244 Plain or Houndstooth challenge. Well, I found this cute, Christmas plaid from Gina K Designs and used it with the cranberry CS, also from Gina K. I scalloped the edge and used some white dots along the edge. Next are snowflakes from the Handmade Snowflakes stamp set from Flourishes. I stamped them in Ocean Mist ink and fussy cut them while watching TV last night. They needed some sparkle, so I added platinum stickles to each. The JOY is also from that set and is heat embossed in white. The baker's twine was added and the cute little hearts were glued to the ends for a different touch. Stickles there too! Three blue rhinestones to finish.

Happy Birthday Christine!

All of the October guests have gone and the house seems very quiet as my Hubby is also gone. That leaves me with all the time I wish, to do crafting. Flourishes has been so nice to me. Did you see that I won the October stamp sets, Yes, all three of them. What a wonderful prize to get. Their stamps are so great to work with, as they make your cards look so professional.
That being said, one of this weeks challenge is to make a birthday card as it is Christine Okken's birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTINE!
Here is my card.

I stamped the very first set I bought from Flourishes, the Chrysanthemums. This set lends itself to so many different ways, but here it looks so good just fussy cut and all alone.

Thanks for stopping by and there is still time for you to enter. Take a look at their Timeless Tuesday challenge also. Good luck!

Just Us Girls #210 Technique challenge DIE INLAY

I decided to go with the Christmas theme, as the die I chose to fit this challenge, is JOY, from Memory Box. The DP is from GKD as well as the Penguin stamp. He is so cute sitting on top of the "O". I paper pieced the hat and the scarf, but I wanted some texture on the scarf, so I ran that thru my Big Shot with a folder that had a small pattern. Can you see it? It was not easy! The spellbinder curved borders was used on the white and DP layers.
Then I was able to make another card with the die cut from the blue.

Thanks for taking the time to stop and look. Hope you have a nice day. I am awaiting a visit from an old friend and there will be lots of laughter in my day.

Flourishes Christmas with a Twist

This is the last day to enter this challenge. My Friend and house guest has gone and the sheets and towels are washed and in the dryer. So now I can craft.
I used the wonderful stamp set from flourishes called It's a Wrap. The bow is perfect and fun to color. The design paper is GKD as well as the ink that I used I color the bow.

JUGS challenge #209

I finally got a card that I wanted to enter in this week's challenge at Just Us Girls. It is a sketch challenge and I do have trouble with them. I tackled with this one three times before I got one worth posting. It was not a difficult challenge, just one that I had trouble with.

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/

The card that I did used a pretty DP that I thought looked "Fallish" and I matched it up with some green. I used GKD stamp set call A Year of Leaves. It was the very first one that I bought from her and I have been hooked ever since. I colored the leaf and the acorn with Copics and "Pop" them out. The sentiment is from Seasonal Labels also from GKD. I stamped it on a die from Spellbinders, but you only see part of the die here. That ribbon is what makes the card. Don't you think? I stayed up late to make this and took the picture in the early morning sun. Best time for that.

You still have time to try this one out. Give it a try or may two or three!

The CASology challenge this week is HARVEST #64.
When I think of a harvest, I think of the times when the kids were little and we would go to the apple orchard and pick apples of all kinds. It would be a warm end of summer day, just like we have now. So this is my take on "Harvest."

http://casology.blogspot.ca/

On a base of Tomatoe Soup card stock, I used Moonlit Fog behind the focal image. The stamp set of from GKD and is called Harvest of Wishes. I love the apple and the sentiment that goes with it. I used several Copics to color it. This time I used a C3 Cool Gray to highlight instead of the BG10 cool shadow that I usually use. Nice touch.

Thanks for stopping and you still have time to enter until Sunday @ 4PM.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge

Well here it is October and the fall weather is here. We are having unusually warm days, but the nights cool down and the sleeping is good, windows open!
This Tuesday, the challenge at Flourishes is a special one, as the winner will be the quest designer for December. They will pick 3 and you will vote for People's Choice on October 8th. Excited for that!
The challenge is to paper piece a stamp project. I went directly to the Pears stamp set as I have been wanting to paper piece that set as soon as I got it. I think that it lends itself to that nicely. So here is my card.

http://flourishes.org/blog/ FTTC 240 Challenge

I stamped the pears onto pure ivory card stock, and fussy cut it out. Then I paper pieced the pears with a paper napkin that had the right colors for the fruit. The leaves, flowers and branch are colored with Copic markers. I used pop dots to give dimension to the focal image. A cuttlebug folder called, Cane Back Chair was used to emboss part of the pure ivory card stock layer and I sponged it with Tim Holtz Distress ink, tea dye and Vintage photo. That was layered onto brown and then a card base of Honey Mustard. The sentiment is from the Pears stamp set too.

I certainly appreciate any comments, so thank you in advance.
