Seize the Birthday - Pattern Paper

The Challenge over at Seize the Birthday is to have Pattern Paper on your birthday card!
Our "Toppings" option this time is...

If you're not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!
The choice is yours!

I have a problem with pattern paper, I like it, I just don't know how to use it very well.  Just can't make them seem to go together like some of my other crafty friends do. So I went to YouTube.
My friend Kristen Warner had several videos on using pattern paper.
She said to follow these pattern paper rules.
 Large/Med +  Small+  Solid  = Contrast
These rules helped me to pick out the papers that I used on my card.

Here are the papers I picked.  Notice the stamp set in the background.  I used that too as the flower matches the flower in the pattern paper.  I also use some pearls from my stash.  Sorry, I don't know where I got these papers, probably from a friend.

Here is the card that I made for your inspiration.
The stamp set is from Altenew and is called Persian Motif.  The base if gray cardstock and I used some Sweet Melon solid cardstock too.

I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color the flower.
I can't wait to see what you all do using your pattern papers.
If you need more inspiration, please see what my teammates at Seize the Birthday Challenge have done for you.
We have a new Surprise Party guest for you too. Her name is Sonjak and you can find her blog Here

Double D Challenge - Bling it Up!

Now it is time for team Darlene and the challenge is Bling it Up!
Here is the mood board for you.

Check out all of the sparkles and shine!
Wonderful inspiration and you can just go with it.
Shine, sequins, crystals and so much more.

Here is how I did my card for you.

I took this picture of the background that I made first, as it was a little complicated and I wanted you to see the sparkle.  I used a stencil from Gina K Designs.  I mixed the paste with Faded Jeans Distressed ink and clear glitter.  Better to mix the glitter in the paste as it stays there and does not fall off.  Ask me how I knew that?  My first try was not good.  Enough said, moving on!  Lol

Here is the finished card.  I added lots of sequins to the swirls and a fun medallion for the sentiment.  Just some circle dies, plain and scalloped.  I added some Azur Glitter Pen to the scallops on the circle. The sentiment is fun too and is from Power Poppy, Small But Mighty Affirmations.

I wish you could see the texture and shine.
Can't wait to see what you will be inspired to do from the mood board.

Power and Spark Challenge

"Black and White with a Pop of Color"

It is pretty simple to do a black and white card with just a "pop" of color.
For me that colors has to be RED.  .
So I will simply get to the card that I did this afternoon
while enjoying my quiet Mother's Day.
After the kids called and the messages send, I went right to my craft room
and have been there ever since.  I will take a break and do some other things,
but first my card for this challenge.
I used Gina K cardstock in white and black for this card.  I had to make my background paper.  Goodness knows that I have plenty, but not any that are just back and white.  I used the Perfect Plaids stamp set and the new Amalgam ink from Gina K.  The stamp for the image is Power Poppy, Farmers Market.  It leads perfectly to the black and white and red that I wanted to use.
A little peek at the inside.

A close up of the red apples and I just had to color the leaves too.  I am using a different set of Copic markers than I usually do for the red.  This time it was R32, R37, R39, and R56.
I will be entering this in the current Power and Spark challenge at Power Poppy.
Thanks for stopping by to see my card.  I do very much appreciate that you take time to leave comments.

Seize the Birthday - It is Just a Number!

Right!  Your birthday is just a number.  You are as young as you feel and act.  So roll out the crafty supplies and lets make a card for the next challenge at Seize the Birthday.

Just a Number!

If you're not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!
Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!
I really feel that age is just a number, so I did not put one on
my card for your inspiration today.
Here is what I think of age.
I knew that I was going to use this stamp from the beginning.
I think everyone should start their day with Whee!

For this card I used these supplies:
Wrapped Scalloped Rectangle die from Memory Box
MFT - Stamps Start the day with Whee
Computer generated sentiment
Ribbon from my stash and Spectrum Noir markers to color.
Please come and join us for this challenge.  I would love to see what you think of a birthday number.
We have a new Surprise Party Guest for May and June.
Her name is Sonjak and this is where you can find for gorgeous creations. You will not be sorry that you took a look at her blog.  http://the-art-of-stamping.blogspot.de

Double D Challenge - May Flowers

Yes, it is the beginning of May already and we at Double D  and Team Diane, are celebrating the May flowers.  Here is the mood board for you.

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7dCBm8ibeevb9IBuTFNHLZL8YepmQo6OYYmsJ85bSrwZauQSLFwxaYgViqR_fzzH57siqylgYTynuu0imZKPzCTOzcBwnZr6QDV1Ie0rHBtfMcNhm3GHAYJp-H5_hBYX7E5b_PdNeHDY/s1600/ca+dd+mood+board+flowers.jpg

Look at all of the lovely delicate spring flowers that you can choose from.  Beautiful colors too.
I chose the Planning for Magnolias from Power Poppy.  Colored them up with my Spectrum Marker and used some masking to get an extra flower in the top left corner. Then I filled in the entire background with a light marker too.
The sentiment is a die from Memory Box called Big Halo Hello ( love that title).  I has a two-part die that allows you to cut a halo.  I cut that from vellum and colored it on the back.  That way I could match all of the colors.  The word was die cut twice and then I applied versamark and Platinum embossing powder to it.  I have limited supplies right now.  I could have been cut from foil paper too.  An easier step. The front panel was added to some card stock that I colored just the edge with my marker as I didn't have the right colors.  Another cool trick. Then added some Clear droplets from Kat Scrappiness.
I hope you are inspired to join us for this challenge.  Don't you love doing flowers?  I sure do.
