Inky Paws Challenge #12 - Beach Theme Challenge

The challenge is to make it beach themed.  I have several stamps set from Newton's Nook, but no beach theme.  I absolutely love the Birthday Bash set and have used it many times.  So I got to thinking..... something I do sometimes.  lol   Don't laugh!(Donna, Judy, Sharyn)
If I made the balloon that Newton is hugging into a beach ball.......Well here it is.

You can find the challenge HERE
I choose Distress Water color paper to use my water color pencils on.  With my fine point copic marker, I drew in the necessary lines to make the beach ball and colored it, and Newton with the pencils and mywater brush.  Next. I used the free greeting, and after printing it out, traced it onto my paper to get the correct placement.   More watercolor for the BG and the sand.  The texture is made with a sponge and then stamped some green grass too.  Newton is just bouncing, hanging onto his beach ball.  I could not resisit the glossy accents on the ball, with a black gem in the middle,.
Here is a closer look at it.

I am having too much fun.
Please have a great day, enjoy your family and craft, and I will see you all soon, my crafty friends.

Power Poppy

Anything goes for the Power Poppy of the week.  I purchased the Online Watercolor card class and watched the videos all weekend long.  Boy, some great ideas there.  So, of course, I wanted to try the water color technique.  I stamped the Azalea stamp set from Marcella Hawley, in Memento London Fog, on water color paper.   Then used distressed inks to color with lots of water.  The Base card is Moonlit Fog, GKD, with a layer of black pinstripe.  I cut a scalloped piece from the spellbinders curved borders and added my image.  The Hello is from SSS, and I added 3 pink pearls to finish.   I think this card looks kind of French.  Ooh La La!   Ok, enough of the silliness, here is my card.

Merci pour vos commentaires et ont un jour heureux!

Mod Squad challenge, Shadow Stamping

Just a quick post today with the card that I did for the Mod Squad Challenge.  The challenge was Shadow Stamping.  I watched many videos on You Tube before I did my card.  There seem to be many ways to do this.  I developed my own way, because I can.
So here is it.
Using water color paper, I heat embossed some script, just in a few areas of the card.  With Distressed inks of Picked Raspberry,Wild Honey, and Mustard Seed and water, that was spritzed on the paper,I created the BG that you see.  I didn't feel that there was enough script, so I stamped some with Antique Linen in the upper right.  I stamped the flower from Reason to Smile, Stampin Up, with Always Artichoke ink, and shadow stamped again just the flower.  Here is were I made my own technique.  I mixed white acrylic paint with some of the Picked Raspberry and smooched the stamp into that and stamped over the original. Then I added three pink pearls to make it Girly!  I don't know where I got the sentiment stamp.  It is old and the rest of the sentiment reads like this.  I am woman, I'm invincible, I'm Tired
I will probably put that in the inside.  I am loving watercolor projects and I am going to sit down right after I post this and do some more.
Have a great day, and I really appreciate your comments.  I know that it takes time to do them.

INSPIRE ME! Multitasking

I can't tell you know much I Love this Inspiration post by Dina Krowal!  She inspires me all the way to the moon and back.  Take a look at what she did as a guest designer here.
So I tried to take her lead and printed my digital copy of Countryside Bouquet, ( which I got as a prize) at a much increased size.  Then colored it in the rich red colors that I imagine my poppies to be.  Since the image was so big, I was coloring it while watching evening TV programs.  Lol
Then I cut the image into usable parts for standard A2 cards.  I mounted this one in a black onyx panel and then a Sweet Corn base.  I used Stazon black ink to stamp the sentiment on the ribbon and added the bow. .

 .
This will be a birthday card for my sister. I made her
a humorous one and this one will be her's too.

Finally, I cover the poppies with Wink of Stella Red Pen

Quick and Easy Birthday Card

I needed a quick birthday card for my Godchild, and I was looking at some of the designers that I admire.  Laura Bassen did this card, or one very much like it and I decided to CASE it.  You can find her blog HERE.
I had to make a stencil first, but that was easy as I had the images saved to my Cameo.  I cut it from some plastic sheeting so that I could reuse it again and again.
Here is what it looks like.  You can see how amazing this machine is.  I really need to work with it more, as it does so much.
Next I just sponged the balloons in the Grass Green, Ocean Mist from GKD, and the third color is Kiwi Kiss, Stampin Up.
The sentiment is from Hello Sunshine, GDK and then I used my Cameo again to cut a whole bunch of  YOU's out.  I layered four of them for this card and then sprayed it with Color Shine Chartrese by Heidi Swapp.  I am saving the extras for another time.  Then one silver twine for one balloon.  And it is done.
This one was so much fun!  Hope you like it too and give it a try.  It did not take long at all.
Thanks for all of your sweet comments.  I love the LOVE!
I am entering this project in JUGS and Seize the Birthday ( Toppings twine or string) challenges

Make It Monday #172: Rainbow Medallions

I only have a few of the stamps from PTI, but I wanted to enter this challenge, so I used the feather stamp set that I love.  I have not used it in awhile, and found that it worked quite nicely on this challenge.  We were simply to make a rainbow medallion with the stamp and this is what I did.
I used several inks from GKD and then cut out a Memory Box butterfly from glitter paper.  Then I stamped a sentiment from Heidi Swapp.  This will be a birthday card.
Thanks for stopping by.  I enjoy the comments if you care to leave some love.

Mod Squad challenge - A Fruitful Summer

Karen is doing the Mod Squad challenge this week and she wants us to do a project with black, kraft, and white, and fruit is the twist!  I thought of the bowl of red juicy apples that I had, from Lockhart Stamp Co.  I love to color them and put on Chrystal Effects, so they shine.  That is what I did for these apples.  I also did my very first shaker card.  Using the dies from PTI it was a little easier.  I will have to practice, if I want to do more.  The sentiments are from Heidi Swapp.  I got a bunch of them for a great price.  Twelve stamps sets with lots of cute words that can be put together.
Here is my card for this challenge.
The apples really shine and the BG is sprayed in Sweet cherry color shine by Heidi Swapp.
So it sparkles too.
Thanks for all of the love that you leave.  I do appreciate it so much.  It keeps me going.
Thanks,

Green Poppies? Hmmmm!

Is it good to be back in the craft room after being gone for a week.  When I first returned, my Mojo was still on vacation.  It must have missed the plane back, for it was no where to be found.  Then, today, it showed up.  I am sure glad it did, because making cards without my Mojo, is not a pretty thing.
So I have made one card to enter in three challenges this week.  Here is it!
I started with a black onyx base card, then layered with an ivory layer that I embossed with a folder and London Fog memento ink.  The image is Counrty Bouquet from Power  Poppy and one that was given to me for being a Peep of the week.  Yeah!  To satisfy the Poppy Sketches challenge, I colored it with the yellow and green.  That is why I ended up with green poppies.   The papers bow is from Lil Inkers die and the cute leafy swirls are a cutout from a previous die.  I never throw peices away!  Sometimes they come in handy!
I am entering this card in these challenges

Just Us Girls #248

Back again for my second card for the JUGS #248 Challenge this week.  BIRDS!
Remember that I could not make up my mind on which stamp to use, so I did both.  Well, that's what happens when you have a long weekend, and when you know that you will not be able to make cards next week.  We will be visiting our daughter and family, who has returned from 4 years in Morocco. they will be in Washington D.C. for the next two years.  Much closer to visit.

I went right to an old stamp set from Stampin Up, but I used the sentiment from GKD Tag Lines.  They may not look happy, but I can hear the happy music now!  Sing it Pherrell!  I wish I had Sharyn here to do the bow!  Oh well, I promise, no more posting for me.  See you next week!
HUGS and SMILES

Just Us Girls Challenge #248 Word Week BIRD

Just Us Girls is shaking it up a bit.  Instead of the sketch challenge, it will be a WORD challenge.  This week the word is BIRD.  Wow, all of the fun things you can do with that.  Be it funny or just beautiful.  I was in a funny mood, so I remembered an old stamp set and  new one and could not decide which one to use, so........ I did both.
Here is the first one.
For this one, I used GKD Sweet Corn for the base and Shabby Spring DP.  The bird images are from Tiddly Inks, For the Birds.  I colored them on watercolor paper with distress markers and made them blush.  I hope they look like birds to you, they could be mistaken for apricots.  Ha ha!
The border die is MB and called Modern Landscape.  I added Polkadot ribbon, and a sentiment that I printed on my computer that would fit this card.  Now that I look at the card, the birds look like they are floating.  I may go back and fix that.
I will need to post the other entry separately, so I hope you are anxiously awaiting for that.  Lol
Thanks so much for your comments, I do love my craft, it keeps me out of trouble. Except when I am shopping for new stuff.

Let Freedom Ring Challenge, Power Poppy

Yesterday was the 4th of July, and I just saw this challenge at Power Poppies.  They have given some sentiments away too.  One of the rules for this challenge was to use the patriotic colors of your country, and use an image from Power Poppy.  If you use the free sentiment, you get more points.

Of course, I used the red, white and blue colors for my card.  I thought the strip die from Lil' Inkers would do well on this design.  The base is Navy, I colored the Azalea stamp set with Copic markers.  R20,R24,R27    Then I printed out the free digi sentiment on to the DP from GKD.  I cut that out with a tag die and also a red one to border it on. I still felt that I need to make more sense out of the sentiment, so I added a fishtail tag with Happy 4th and a red star.  Then I felt it looked done and complete.  This will be saved until July 4th, 2015 to be sent out in the mail.

I tried to get a close up shot of the azaleas, but my camera gets bleary.

Here is where you can find out all of the requirements for this challenge.  Have fun!
