Creative Confetti - Art imitating life!

For this week at Power Poppy, we are to take a photo and use the design or color as inspiration.
Well, this one took a little thinking and lots of looking at photos that I took this summer.  I found one that interested me in the texture and color and when with that photo.
We went to Ashville N.C. this summer and while there toured the Biltmore estate where Dale Chihuly had an exhibit.  I took many photos of his glass sculptures and this is the one that I took for inspiration.
There were sculptures inside and outside as well.  This is one that was on a pond in the garden.  I loved the colors and the texture of the glass and I seemed to remember a stamp set that Marcella did recently.  I went right to the set, called Sassy Succulents.
Here is the card that I did.
I wanted more of the succulents to show, so I masked off the plant and stamped to two more times.  Making it bigger as my inspiration photo shows. When I saw this sentiment in the same set, I thought I would just let the plant stand out alone.  I did sponge a little extra color behind it and then heat embossed the sentiment with Platinum EP.  The layer under the image is embossed with an EF that I thought looked like the glass in the picture. Less is often better!
I am adding this to the Creative Confetti for this week.  Not sure if there will be another one next week for this month long challenge.  We will be hitting the road for the winter.  Yes, I am a snowbird.  See you all after I unpack and get my craft room settled.
Thanks for leaving a comment and for stopping by. I will be looking forward to reading the.

Fun with the Painting Pumpkins

If you saw my earlier post today, I said that I was going to color up the pumpkins with the jack O lantern faces.  Here is what I had fun doing.  Halloween colors all around.  After coloring, I cut them out of the design and placed them on a circle of orange design paper and added the words,
You're Fab Boo Lous!  Just fun.
Here it is.
You can use the pumpkins anyway that you like.  I liked them this way, they look more scary!  Lol
I used fun unusual Halloween colors and I am entering this in the Creative Confetti, Use the Sketch and Create.
I think that you have seen the sketch before.  If not, here it is again.

Thanks again for stopping in and I do appreciate your comments, they make my day.  If you were here earlier today, you get extra credit.

Creative Confetti - Sketchbook

This week is a simple challenge and it is to use the sketch that Julie has designed.  I already had a digi colored up and just needed to make it fit the sketch.

Here is my take on this sketch.  Pretty direct and simple.

Using the new digital stamp Painting Pumpkins, I colored this one up right away.  There are three designs and some have happy faces.  I can't help myself, I think I am going to do the jack o lantern one next.
I didn't know  which picture to post, so I did both of them. I die cut the circle with a stitched die and framed it with black one.  Placed them on a striped paper and melon and black card case. Added the bow and leaf charm to match the sketch.

I am entering this in the Creative Confetti Challenge at Power Poppy.
You can enter too, this is time.

Thanks so much for stopping in.  I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and do something fun.

Double D Challenge - Stripes and Dots

I made a simple card for this challenge using only dies and design papers.  It was quick and easy and I look forward to seeing what you will do for this one.
Here is the Mood board.

I got some inpsiration from the top right panel and the colors there.
Of course the stripes and dots were easy.

Navy and Jelly Bean Green and White are the card stock that I used from GKD.  I die cut the Frantic Stamper Stitched Rectangle die for the front and then some squares and rectangles of the design paper from My Favorite Things 6x6 paper pack, Painted Prints Citrus.  The heart and tags are from Die-Namics dies.  Gina K stamp Art From the Heart is the sentiment on the tag and on the inside.  I could not resist stamping the pencils on the inside too.
 The Prize

Here is the prize that is being offered if you are the random winner of this challegnge.  Good Luck and ne sure to check out what the other teammates have done.

Thanks so much for dropping in, I do enjoy your comments and they make my day brighter.

Creative Confetti - Sparkle in the shade

This challenge is exactally what it say it is.  Create a monochromatic with a hint of sparkle.
Grab a cup of coffee and I will tell you about how this card came about.

This is the digital image from Power Poppy called Easy Breezy Coneflowers.  I like digital images as I can take tons of them with me on a disc, when I go to Florida for the winter.  I printed this one on card stock ages ago and really didn't like the design.   But I did run it through my Minc with some sparkly gold foil.  There is stayed for quite sometime until this challenge.  I thought that if I didn't like the design, I could just cut some squares out of the parts that I did like. Using my square Spellbinder dies, I did just that. Layered up these squares on more Sweet Corn and then on a embossed panel of the same card stock. I did color them with some Copic markers for more detail.
This angle shows the sparkle and shine.

I am entering this in the Creative Confetti challenge for this week.  Thanks for stopping by with your comments.

Seize the Birthday - No Toppings

Here is October and we have another challenge for you at Seize the Birthday.   This time we have no toppings, so as long as you make it a Birthday card, it will be fine. My card is in darker fall colors.
Here is what I did. This stamp is a layering stamp and was quite easy to line up the colors.

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment and used an old punch that I had
for make the cutouts in the upper corners.
Supplies:
Spellbinders scalloped Border two die
Memory Box Wishing die
Altenew Peruvian Lily stamp and die
Sentiment is PTI Think Big Favorites #24

See what the other members of the design team have done for you and we have a Surprise Party Quest as well.  Her name is Marianne and she lives in Greece.  I sure hope to go to Greece someday.

Can't wait to see what you will do this month. You can be our next Surprise Party Guest.

Power and Spark for October

This weekend was World Card making Day and I was busy making cards.  Not surprised you say?  Well, I was not either.  I actually made three cards from the backgrounds that I did with Distressed Oxides and I love this new technique.  Here is where I found it. You could go on for ever adding to it.  The Challenge for this month at Power and Spark is to make a card using your birthday month to inspire you.  My birthday is in August.  No holidays and summer is really over here in Wisconsin.  We have the beautiful fall weather and the trees are starting to turn colors.  So I have decided to use my Grandson Jack's Birthday.  He will be fourteen this Wednesday,  October 10th.  So much more fun to do a fall card
Here is my inspiration for October.
I used part of the background that I did on the left and then cut several borders of scallops for that panel  Placed it all on a cranberry card base and then colored the apples from the Apple of my Eye stamp set from Power Poppy.  Note that I did not use all of the image, as I didn't want to cover up that pretty background.  Then I fussy cut the apples out and placed them on the front.  The splatters and the scallop are gold and do not show up in this photo.  There is Wink of Stella on the apples.

I will be entering this card in this challege for this month.   There is lots of time as this challenge goes for a month.  Hope to see you there.
Thanks for the comments that you care to leave.  I love them all.

Creative Confetti - Background Check!

This week for Creative Confetti Julie is having a little fun with us. Some of us have been glued to the news and this is a different take on a background check.  Julie challenges us to do an image and make it POP but make a statement with your background.

I looked at some make your own background and I found this one that popped up in my crafty emails. I will link it here.  I gave this a try and made several different papers that I have turned into cards for the fall. Love making fall cards. So colorful and bright.  Well, this is a Christmas card for you and it is not so bright.
Here is what I mean.

I wish you could see this one in real life as it is on a base of gold cardstock
and I printed the image on my laser printer and put gold foil on it.  Then colored it with Copic markers.  The sentiment and the wreath are gold.

The background was made with Distress Oxide inks and lots of gold splashes and some script.  Here is the other half of the sheet that I did. There is sponging and heat embossing with clear and reverse embossing.  Such fun and hard to stop.

I am entering this in the challenge for this week at Creative Confetti and hope that you will join me.
Thanks for stopping, I need to turn on the TV and watch my Packers win this game.  Go Pack!!
Thanks for your comments.

Double D Chalenge - Scare-in' Up Some Pumpkins

Well, we have another cute challenge for you this time.
It's called Scare-in' Up Some Pumpkins.
You can use scarecrows or pumpkins or both
After you see the mood board for this challenge you will see why I included both in my inspiration for you.  It is so cute and I could not do just one or the other.

I think fall is my favorite time of year and my favorite kind of card to make.
Yes, I am into matching envelopes and I find them to be easy to match to the card.  I had a piece of the DP, so I just used it up inside the envelope that matches perfectly because it is all Gina K
I was watching Jennifer McGuire make pop up cards and I did one for you too.
The scarecrow inside pops up.
This is a digital image that I got for free.  I often print them out on copy paper, as I did for this card and with the help of my light box, I traced the part that I wanted onto card stock.
I left off some of the birds and wanted to make my own pumpkins on the front, so I omitted them too.  Then I extended the fence a bit.  Colored her up and fussy cut her out to make my pop up inside.
( she has ruffles)
GKD card stock in Tangerine Twist
Graphic 45 Artisan Style design paper
Stampin Up Autumn Harvest ( oldie but goodie for the pumpkins and leaves)
digital scarecrow
The sentiment is GKD duo's Especially for You
Glossy Accents on the pumpkins

If you enter, you may be able to win this prize.
Be sre to stop over to see what the other teammates have done for this challenge at Double D.
Thanks for stopping by to see more, I hope that you enjoyed and I do appreciate your comments.
