Make the Cards Challenge #9 Masculine

This is a new challenge for me and I happen to see that the challenge this week was masculine.  Well, I just made a card for my neighbor that will fit and I am entering it this week.

This card was created with Stampin Up stamp called Whiskey Business.  The sentiment is from the same stamp.  I combined it with an embossing folder that looks like wood.  colored with Copics.

Don't forget the inside, this set has some great sentiments.

I am entering this in this weeks Make the Card Challenge #9

Seize the Birthday #210 - Sketch

Here it is the last two weeks of March and we have a different challenge for you. Glenda is our hostess and she has chosen a Sketch for those of you that want to do the toppings.  This is exciting as I don't believe that we have ever had a sketch before.  So I hope that you decide to do the topping for this challenge.
Of course, if you are not a toppings kind of person, you can just do anything.
Remember to make it a Birthday Theme.

I had fun with this sketch and here is what I came up with.

Spellbinders Elegant twist Rectangle
The Greetery Botani Cuts Lily and Palm
Die-namics Word Windows
Simon Says sentiment You Matter

Don't forget
Our Surprise Party Guest is Carol

Color Hues Challenge - #13 Yellow and Blue

Just a quick post for the newer Challenge that Nancy Leppek and her team do every two weeks.  Fun to get your mojo going again.
Here we go!

I was lucky to see this background in my stash that already gave me a head start on this card. It was done a while ago with heat embossing then washi tape and lastly, the sponged on colors of yellow and blue. I just added the flower from GKD A Little Love stencil kit.  The You die is GKD's too.

I will be entering this in the Color Cue for this challenge.

Double D Challenge - Book Covers

We have a very interesting topic for this two-week challenge. Diane is our host and just look at this inspiration board that she has created.

Book Covers is the idea here and these are some examples. These are some fancy covers, but I knew just where I wanted to start.

Power Poppy has a digital stamp that I think fits this challenge very well. It is Hummingbird in Paradise. I printed it on Fabriano Hotpress watercolor paper. ( trying out new papers) without the hummingbird. Then channeling my best Debbie Hughs, started to color the leaves first. I love how the color can be placed in the darkest area and then the water will spread it to the lighter ones.

Then on to the flowers.  When I was done, I used some matching Prismacolor pencils
to add depth and define areas.

The sentiment is Power Poppy too.  It is easy to use a sentiment from a different set and pop it into the center.

Oh, we have a prize for a random winner.

Please Stop by the Double D Challenge Blog and play along.

Remember to give them some love too.
