Seize the Birthday Challenge #258 - Things in a garden

Nancy is the hostess for this next challenge and she picked the toppings of things in a garden.
Just think about that for a minute. There are flowers, vegetables and snails and rabbits and I could to on and on. But you get the idea. Have fun with this challenge like I did.

Of course, you can make it a birthday card if you are not doing the topping.

Here is my card

The Blossom Challenge- Sponge Bath

Christine's challenge for this month is a "Sponge Challenge"
She is being witty and calls it "Sponge Bath".
I think this will be fun. Most of you have sponged your backgrounds,
so please join us in the fun.
I would love to see your creations.

I printed out the Hellebore digital stamp set as I was thinking of spring flowers
that will soon be blooming. If you have been watching Marcella's Facebook posts lately, you can see what I mean. Her front yard or as she calls it, The Slope of Possibilities.

After printing out my image on smooth white cardstock, I changed the black coloring lines to gray as I wanted a no-line look. Then I used my Copic markers to color up the flowers and leaves.
These are the colors that I used. B63, B66, and B69 for the hellebores and G43, and G82 for the leaves.

For the SPONGE part of my card, I created a mask. I simply printed the same image on copy paper and cut it out. This was the mask that I used to cover the colored flowers. That made it possible to color the background and give this card a Sponge Bath of a soft blue background. I am sure that you all have done this in the past, if not you should give it a try.

I used Distress inks in Tumbled Glass.
For help in using and printing out digital images, use the tutorial by Nancy Scheeds.
It is the one that I use and it is very helpful,

The crystals that I added were colored from the bottom with the B69 and then adhered.  Usually, I leave them clear, but in this case, they look better colored.
Come and join Christine in this fun Challenge for this month.
There is a prize and you can win if you enter.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

I made this card for the Peny Black Saturday Challenge Anything goes optional flowers and hearts. But that challenge has ended. Fortunately, the challenge for March is still anything goes. I have decided to enter my card anyway.

I sat down and relaxed with a water coloring of this image from Penny Black called Loads of Lots. I have had it for a long time and use it often. Isn't that hedgehog so darn cute with a load of hearts?
After water coloring the image I cut it out and also used Gina K Designs master layouts 1 to frame it.
The sentiment is also from the same stamp.
I am entering this card in the Penny Black Saturday Challenge  anything goes

Color Hues Guest - Green and Gold

I am tickled pink to be a guest designer for Color Hues! Their challenges are the ones that inspire me the most. Since my card was picked, I get to be a guest designer for them on this challenge.

Come and play along with the rest of the team and me. The colors are Green and Gold. I must admit that the very first thing that I thought of was Packer Colors, ( I live in Wisconsin) but unfortunately I don't have stamps for that. Thank goodness. There are so many other things to make for this color combination.

Here is the card that I made.
Supplies are: Gina K Winter Foliage card kit the poinsettia stencil
Spellbinders Gilded Nested Rectangle Glimmer Set in Gold Foil.
Honey Bee Buzz Words for the sentiment
Gina K Thankful Greenery for the sentiment inside.
A better view to see the gold hot foil and sentiment. So hard to photograph.
The inside has a story too. My first hot foil didn't work right, but I cut it out and used it on the inside. I will add my own message when I send the card. Never throw out anything, is my motto.

Friday, February 17, 2023

We are expecting visitors next week and there will be no crafting for awhile. That brought me to the bin of new craft products that I bought over the Holiday season and have not used as yet. Why not make a card for the next Color Hues challenge? So here goes using the new stuff that I bought.

Here are the colors
I pulled out my Gina K Precious Poinsettia stamp and die set.
I stamped the colors of Jelly Bean Green and Turquoise Sea from  Gina K.
I thought they were a pretty good match.

Then I die cut the image out with the matching die as I wanted to use another new product.  I dry embossed the new Spellbinders 3D folder called Flurry of Snowflakes. I think it can be more than just a Christmas embossing folder.

I had a hot foil that I did and used on a recent card, but saved the leftover piece. It was PinkFresh Geo leaf design and I cut out three of them and scattered them on my card front.
Don't throw anything away!

Still more use from the hot foiled piece that was done in gold and turquoise.

Double D - Birds

It is time for another fabulous challenge at Double D and Darlene is out host. She has picked out a few birds for your inspiration on this mood board.

The Prize
For a random winner.
This bird I have colored many times. It is a Power Poppy digital image that was printed out four times. I will have more cards to make after I complete the coloring on each. It is called Chickadee In Bayberry and is available. I colored it while on Christmas vacation and added some new product called
Cosmic Shimmer Fluffy Stuff.  Look closely at the snow on the bayberry branch.

I finished by sponging some distressed ink around the background of this card. Then did Splatters.
Visit Double D Challenge and play along! Remember the winner is random.

Seize the Birthday #255 - Use Your Initials

This month our first challenge host is Glenda!
She has a very clever challenge for us this time if you choose to do the toppings.

Our "Topping" option this time is...
If you don't use the toppings, make sure that it is a birthday card.
Use your initials she said, well that was a bit of a challenge for me. I actually listed my initials and then went to google to see the words that started with them.
You may not have to be so literal about it and find words that you can work with immediately.

Here are the initials that I used.
B - Ball
A - Airdale Terrier
C - Clouds.

Supplies used are: A colorful life for the clouds
Colorado Craft stamp and die, Watch This
Picket Fence die.
