Fun With Daisies

We had some much needed rain this morning.  It was thundering and the rain came in buckets.  What does that have to do with this post?  Well, our walk was much shorter, and that gave me time to get into the craft room. Hubby just left for golf and I have the house to myself.  I am going to post this card and it will be the last for awhile as I am closing up my craft room and going on VACATION!

Here is the card that I made for the Double D Challenge  Use Neutrals
and Simon Says Wednesday   Make for the Border

Ingredients:  Altenew Spring Daisy stamp
GKD White and Kraft card stock
GKD White, Kraft and Warm Cocoa inks

Swiss dot embossing folder with Warm Cocoa ink

Altenew Inspiration Challenge for August 2016

                                   August2016_AltenewInspirationChallenge_Therese_2

This is the inspiration photo for the August Challenge at Altenew.  I could not help but be inspired by the colors of the flamingos in shades of pink, along with the grays.  I kept it simple and used my stamp and dies from the Painted Butterflies.  My card is on white watercolor paper, with a wash and splatter of the gray.  the butterflies are water colored and cut out, then added to the front.  I stamped Happy Birthday from another set by Altenew, Persian Motifs.

This card really is simple and striking photographed against the black background.
I am entering this card in the inspiration challenge at Altenew .
Thanks for dropping in I love your comments.  There is still plenty of time to enter your project.
Note:  Do not splatter when wearing a white shirt.

Going all CSI at Power Poppy

Well, this is right up my alley so to speak.  When I was working I was a forensic nurse.  Collecting evidence in certain cases.  So when I saw this challenge at Power Poppy, Power and Spark, I could not resist.

In this case the CSI stand for COPY, STEAL, AND INSPIRE.
The hardest part was narrowing it down to who that would be.  I went right to my Pinterst Board and picked this card by Cindy Lawrence.  I loved the design and the colors and I am not ashamed to say the I copied both.
                                                Here is Cindy's card.
Power Poppy Countryside Bouquet:

                                              Here is mine.
I used the new stamp set , Tea in the Garden by Power Poppy.  What fun this was.  My camera makes this look blue, but IRL, it is closer to green.
Thanks for your comments, they are loved.

Seize the Birthday August, Anything Goes

Boy our summer has been busy and I have lots of summer birthdays in my family.  I needed to make a lot for August.  I was happy to make this one for the Anything Goes Challenge.
This card was pretty easy to make quickly.  I used some watercolor paper and a die from Penny Black called Bashful. I die cut a circle and then put foam tape on the frame that was made after cutting the circle.  After stamping some leaves and sponging the green, I put the flower die on the circle.  The sentiment is a Simon Says Die.  This card is a 5 1/2 square card.

Please visit the Seize the Birthday blog to see the beautiful cards from the rest of the team and our Surprise Party Guest.  I hope you will be inspired and come play along with us.

We have a surprise party Guest for the months of August and September.  Please welcome Monika Reeck.  You can see her designs here. http://creativewithmonika.blogspot.

Make it Mohday #257 Sentiment Strip Grounding.

This week at Make It Monday the challenge is so close to the one that I just did at the Mod Squad Challenge.  This challenge interested me and you will have fun with it too.  Check out Lexi to see how she did it.  This will be a quick one for me today.  Lots to do.  I am having a milestone birthday and it will be a fun day.
Here is my card that I made with my sister in mind.  She has an August birthday too.  This will be one of many cards that I made for her birthday.
I made a CAS card simply using the stamps and dies from Uncorked by Papertrey Ink.  The bottle and glass are cut from silver foil and stamped with black Stazon ink. I love all of the little detail stamps in this set.

Thanks much for you comments.  I'm off to play with my new Garden Gate kit from PTI.

New Challenge at The Mod Squad

It is the first week of August and we have another challenge for you.  Cindy Horvath and I are your hosts for this week.
Challenge
The challenge this week...is to use a bordered sentiment on your project.  That sounds easy, right!  So let's make it a bit harder.  You may not use flowers.  Think outside the box for this one.
You draw two lines on the front of your card and put your sentiment in between.  Using a mask to cover up the sentiment, continue to decorate the front of the project. When you take off the mask, the border is there.

There are lots of you tube videos on bordered sentiments. I will include one here

A $20 gift certificate for the store at Gina K Designs.

My  Cards
For this card I used GKD white and bubble gum pink card stock and the new stamp from GKD called Sophie Pig.  Such a cute and fun stamp set to play with. After I did the border technique, I also scored lines on the back side of the card to give it more definition.

For my second card I used GKD Peace and Joy stamp set. Once again I scored above and below the sentiment. Then added a little shading for more texture. I have a start to my Christmas cards too.

Check out the Challenge as there is a second prize offered by Concord and Ninth.

Hope to see you there, thanks for joining us this week.
