Seize the Birthday #243 - Purple, Blue, and Green

You are in the right place! This is the Seize the Birthday Challenge! It does look like my post from yesterday, but this is a different one.  It has the same theme and my thought was that I can make a card that looks very different with the same colors. So here I go.
Colleen is our host and this was her pick of colors.

Remember if you are not a toppings crafter, you can just make a birthday card.

Here is the one I did for this challenge.

I went searching in my bits box and up popped this background that I did some time ago after listening to a Jennifer McGuire video. I used a die from MFT called Snow Drift and double-sided tape and glitter.  I know it is called snow drift, but in this case, I think it looks like waves and water.  I went with that theme for my card.

Going waaaaay back to an old Stampin Up stamp set called Fishy Friends, I stamped and hot embossed the fish and the starfish from that set. Then I water-colored them.
That sentiment is an old Gina K Duo, do you remember those red rubber ones?

Our Surprise Party Guest is Karren Johnson and you will find her blog here.

Seize the Birthday challenge #242 - Metallic

Here it is July and I hope that you have some plans for your summer.  Maybe it is a vacation somewhere as we all know our vacation has been to stay home for the last two years.
We have one planned for this month and another for the fall. So I am busy making cards ahead of time for the Seize the Birthday Challenge

For this challenge, Cathy is our host and she has chosen Metallics.

If you are not a toppings kind of crafter, just make sure that your entry is a Birthday theme.

Here is my card.

This card started out a bit different than it ended up. I took the 3D embossing folder from Altenew called Spoon Daisy and embossed it on foil card stock. In hindsight, I probably should have spritzed it lightly with water.  Because I didn't do that, the card stock cracked.  Next, I tried to make it look antique by rubbing dark ink on it.
Warning, ink on foil does not dry.

How did I manage to save this hot mess? I used a sanding block to rub over the raised areas and then fussy cut the daisy out. Adhered it to black background and then on a base of Turquoise Sea and added the Happy Birthday sentiment.

I am calling this a save!

Here is a better picture of the antique look.  I think this could be a masculine card.
With just some card stock and one EF I made a card.

I sure hope to see what you can do. No hot foil machine or Minc foiler?  You can still make a metallic card.

We have a new Surprise Party Guest for the next two months
She is Karren Johnson and you can find her blog here.

Double D Challenge -Creatures under/in the Sea

Our new challenge at Double D for the next two weeks is........
Creatures in and under the sea.
      From Team Diane.

Here are some ideas for you.

I am in the process of cleaning my crafts and using things that I have been saving.
This is a Copic coloring of a class that I took with Kit and Clouder, several years ago. It is still available and is on sale.  I decided to make a card out of it as it was great for this challenge.

The digi is from the class and is called Underwater Magic. I colored it with Copic markers. It was a bit larger, but I only needed to cut off one inch to make this 5 1/2 inch square card and turn it into a Birthday card. I used the sentiment from MFT called Gill Friends.

Here is the prize

Be sure to take a look at what the others on this team for your inspiration.
