A Fruitful Harvest

The challenge at Mod Squad this week is to use something with fruit or harvest theme.   I went immediately to my Flourishes stamps as I love how Marcella draws her images.  This one of Pears is amazing.  I heat embossed the image with white, and colored with copics.  Orginally, I was going to do a watercolor, so I used watercolor paper.  Copics still work, but not as well.  I partially cut out the image and used adhesive dots to adhere it to the DP.  The sentiment is from the same set.

 

Notice the matching envelope!  A good way to use up some of the 12 X 12 scrapbook paper.

 

Here is a close up of the flowers.  I wanted them to stand out a little more, so I used copic  BG10 to outline them. 

I added a paper bow and some straw like stuff that I bought at a craft fair.

STV MIUM challenge and JUGS challenge

It has been awhile since I have posted, or even made a card.  I'm feeling a little rusty.  Squeek!  I need some oil.  We were visiting children and grand kids and had the best times.  School will start next week and then I will have all the time to craft that I want, but now is the time to spend with the kids.  Tomorrow, I will pick up the kids and we will do our usual summer day.  Have lunch at our favorite hamburger spot and then hit the pool.  The kids have become great swimmers.  All I have to do is keep throwing in the rings for them to fetch from the bottom of the pool.  It is endless!!!
In the last two days I made over 60 lunch box notes for the moms to put into their lunches.  Something I never had time to do when I was a mom. 
I did make a card that I can enter into two challenges, and let me tell you about them.  First is the  STVMIUM challenge we are to make a Fall Birthday card.  The JUGS challenge #255 is a photo entitled Farm Fresh.   I am entering this card in both of these challenges.

Fall always reminds me of apple picking, something that we always did with the kids. 

I choose Cherry red CS from GKD and on that I layered a plaid that I made with gold, cherry red and black inks.  The image is from Harvest of Wishes, GKD, and is embossed with gold and colored with copic markers.  The greeting is from Tag lines and then I added the embellishments from my stash.

Mod Squad Challenge Masculine Birthday card

This week the challenge at the Mod Squad is to make a
Masculine Birthday card.  I made one recently that I really
like, so I thought I would recreate it with different colors
and a slightly different design. 

I used the Rounded Diamonds stamp set and coordinating dies to
make this card.  The colors are Gina K, Blue Denim.
I went back to Stampin Up ink for the Dusty Durango and
Going Gray.  They all sound masculine, don't you think?
Some black faux stitching and enamel dots that Judy Woodland
told me how to make, so I will call them Judy dots. 

The greeting is stamped in the window that was die cut.

Stretch Your Stamps 2

I was able to duplicate what Nicole Magouirk made for this class.  I think that it looks masculine, a card that it hard to do for me.  I like the way she added texture without adding layers. Instead of secquins, I used the brads that look like buttons.  I just cut off the stems, and glued them on.  I really like the color combination of Tomatoe soup and Faded Brick inks by Gina K designs.  For the gray, I had to go back to my Stampin Up Going Gray, and I sure am glad that I now have the Gina K inks.  I used the matching die to cut out a window and place the greeting inside.  This will be a birthday card for when ever I need one.

Online Card Class Stretching Your Stamps 2

I has been 9 days since I have posted to this blog.  Life has been busy and wonderful.  I have had time with my kids and grand kids and made some amazing memories.  Like going to the Family night at Lambeau Field.  I joined 67,337 other people to watch the 2014 Packers practice and some amazing fireworks to finish it off.  I also have had time with Jack and Eliza, having picnics, swimming, playing scrabble, shopping and sleepovers. Love those sweeties, and miss them when they are not here.  And, when not doing those things......I am taking the online card class.  I have made cards that were inspired by these classes and I am going to give you a fireworks show of all of them so far. (smerk)

 These cards were made with an embossed paper and then water colored.  Each one was cut into one inch squares and then used as BG.  I love the purple one. 

 This is similar to the first two.   You emboss, then color and finally die cut.  I like this one too. 

This is paper piecing, but the top layers are burnished to give dimension.  See the insert.

I really went crazy with this design.  The idea is to use part of your greeting in the image of your card.  I love the first one about family and the colors of the last one, are really much better in real life.  I used some texture paste and found that it can be colored, so the chevron was an experiment.

 Well, that is it for today!  We are going to a friend's house for a party, and it is a 1 1/2 hour drive.  So we will be staying in a hotel tonight and tomorrow, I am going to celebrate my birthday with my hubby.  That means he will have to buy me breakfast and dinner.  lol
I hope that I have inspired you to make some of these ( I should have thought of that before) cards. 
Sometimes you just need a kick in the butt.
