Power and Spark - Sweet Treats

This month we are challenged to make something that will make a sweet treat for someone else.  I have made a tag to put on a hostess gift.  I used a new digital stamp along with a sentiment that I made into a label for the gift.  It was fun to color it in traditional Christmas colors and I also gave it a vintage look.  Love that with Christmas.
Here is my project.

A closer look at the tag.
Here is the label with a few holly and berries

Ingredients:  Ivory and Kraft card stock from Gina K Designs
digital stamp from Power Poppy along with the sentiment from Candy Cane classic.
Dies used are Simon Says Frames and Die-namics Stitched fishtail frame, and Poppy Stamps Stitched Holly Leaves and Berries.
Copic markers in R 24, R37, R89, YG97 and YG97, Antique Linen Distressed Ink

I will be entering this project in the Power and Spark Challenge You can find it here, and there is time to enter.

Thanks for brightening my day with your comments.

Mod Squad Challenge TREES and SNOW

I am hosting the challenge at the Mod Squad this week.  It is my last Challenge working with Gina K Designs as the sponsor.  Gina will continue to sponsor, but Judy Woodland will be showing you what she can do with the great and creative stamps that Gina provides.  I will still be hosting the challenges, but with a new surprise sponsor.  You will have to wait and see.

The challenge that I chose is Trees and Snow.  I pictured the quiet of the forest just after it had snowed and the moon has come out full.
I loved working with these stamps and did two cards.  Since I wanted a night scene, I made the first card from navy and blue.  This is the first one.

Then I kept thinking that it would look good in other colors and I went to my favorite Moonlit Fog paper and ink.  Why not a night scene with Moonlit Fog.  Perfect!

Here is that card

Notice the matching envelope!  I die cut a circle of masking paper for the moon and placed it on my card stock. The snow hills were made with a curvy piece of paper and sponged with the Moonlit Fog ink, until I had several hills, Next I stamped the trees, and when back to make the shadows at the base of the trees.  Then I heat embossed the sentiment in silver embossing powder. Now the fun begins, I used acrylic white paint, watered down a bit and an old paint brush to splatter the snow all over the card.  Last, I took off the moon mask and sponged some yellow on it and a shadow on the snow of the moonlight.  I really like this version best.  It is a 6 1/2 X 5 inch card.
So now it is your turn to get going with trees and snow.  I am so excited to see what you come up with.  Remember, if you use Stamp TV products, you will have another chance to win the prize.

Thanks for brightening my day with your comments.  They are much appreciated.

Make It Monday #268: Double-Layer Tags

this will be a quick post today and this is a busy day for me, and I really should be betting dressed and out of the house soon.  I made these tags for the Make It Monday Challenge and I wanted to show them to you.
I only have one PTI tag and I used that, but then my challenge button went to work.  I looked at other dies that I had that may make a tag.  I found one.
Here is the first tag.
I used the Book mark die and cut it twice.  Added the sentiment with Platinum embossing  and the jingle bells and holly.

This is the challenge one
Yes, the Garden Gate can make a great tag.  I just traced the gate so that I could have a solid back and used the gates at the top of the tag. Inside it says a gift for you and a big red bow, from Tinsel and Tags.
I die cut a poinsettia from IO and added it to the front gate.
Ok, Thanks for looking.  I will enter this in the Make It Monday #268 challenge
I do have to run off, but thanks for brightening my day with your comments.

                                         Blog hop inspiration

This is the inspiration photo for the Blog Hop which will take place on Nov. 25th.  I was inspired by the ornaments and the beautiful colors.  I really just went with that simple inspiration.
Here is the card that I did.
Using the Circle Doodle background stamp, I made my background with water colors.I used my Zig markers and a water brush, coping the colors in the photo.  Over the top of that, I die cut from silver paper, the PTI Dangle Stars die.  I added the words Merry Christmas from the same paper.  After all was glued in place, I added sparkly silver to the stars and the works. This card really has a sparkly shine to it.
I will be entering this in the PTI Blog Hop
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with family.  I certainly did enjoy mine.
Thanks for brightening my day with your comments.

Seize the Birthday - Presents

It is time for Seize the Birthday Challenge.

Take some time from your holiday card making to make a birthday card.

You know that you will need them.  This month the Topping is Presents, so you could combine that with a Christmas card.

If you're not a toppings kinda person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!

This is a different view. I wanted you to see the layers used.  I used my Mini Minc to foil the fun dots then added some sequins too.  I saw a video and used this idea on my card. This is where you can find it too.  Here

I don't have  the reactive mist, but I had a pen that a BFF gave me that worked well.  I used double sticky tape for the teal banner.  Just like Lydia did.

Stamp set is Power Poppy Party Time. I used a water coloring card stock and my distressed markers to color.  Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Peeled paint, Picked Raspberry. Archival Ink , Watering Can.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look.
Don't forgetwe have a Special Party Guest too.  Her name is Sherrie Koning  and you will find her designs here. Check out what all of the other designers have done Seize the Birthday challenge

Down
I was inspired by this card from Nicole Heady.  I loved the die cut and the simplicity of the card.

Here is my card.
I die cut the word for the PTI Big Hugs die and left it monochromatic.  I tried colors behind it, but didn't like it as well.  Next, decorating was easy, as I die cut flowers and leaves from Autumn Color Pop.  Then a few sequins. I really like how this turned out.

I will be entering this in the PTI Create along with us Challenge. Here

Thanks so much for stopping by, Your comments brighten my day, always!

Altenew November Challenge

November 2016 Photo Inspiration Challenge

This will be a quick post today.  I was making Christmas cards and wanted a change of color.  I sure got that with the inspiration photo. I use only three Distressed markers to make my card and layered them to make a darker color.  They are Faded Jeans, Festive Berries, and Mustard Seed.

Here is the finished card.

This is the stamp set Spring Daisy, from Altenew.
I used clear embossing powder on Water colors paper and then water colored the flowers and leaves, with the colors of the inspiration photo.  After drying, I added a border on the side from Penny Black.  There are two different borders in this pack called Border edges and I used them both.  There is one in the inside too. A few sequins form Pretty Pink Posh in 4mm, Marigold.

I will be entering this card in the November Photo Inspiration Challenge

Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look, Your comments brighten my day!

Power & Spark for November - Think Pink!

Tosha Leyendekker has challenge us to Think Pink for this month's challenge.  Here are her words.
“I love vintage, so I often think of white and pink for Christmas décor. I thought it would be fun to feature pink on a Christmas Card. So, for this month’s challenge, let’s THINK PINK and make it a Pink Christmas.”

I just got some new stamps set from Power Poppy and I also treated myself to a new pack of designer paper.  I was inspired by the set called Holly Golightly and Recollections Christmas/Noel paper pack.
Here is my card.
This is a 6X6 card because I loved the paper and want to use all of it.  The silvery snowflakes are so shiny and there are white ones too.  I went with a silver and pink card.  After stamping the holly, with versamark and embossing with silver powder, I colored them with Copic R83, R85, R56.  Then fussy cut out two of the holly sprays.  I did the same with the tag, but sponged that with Distress ink in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.

I used a newer die from Simon Says called Believe.  I cut a vellum background for that and the word was die cut in silver.  The vellum is colored from the back with the Copic R 85.

Card stock is Gina K Designs in Dusty Rose and I added a bit of pink gingham ribbon to the card too.
the sentiment on the tag is from Simple Joys stamp set.

I will need to make an envelope for this special size.

I will enter this card in the Power & Spark Challenge for November

Thanks for your comments, They really brighten my day!

stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!
                                                               The choice is yours!
I used a stencil called Distressed Grid by Memory Box Sponged with a  dye ink from Mama Elephant, called Winter.   CS is Gina K in Turquoise Sea and Ocean Mist
Silver foil layer and watercolor paper from Canson XL
The stamp is Altenew Persian Motifs.  Stamped with Platinum EP and heat set, then colored with Distressed markers.

Digi's like to move it!

This is the second card that I have made for this challenge.  I kept thinking about how I wanted my card to turn out and actually made a template to make sure it would work.  I also used a digi stamp on my card,  to further challenge me to "Make It Move."
You have plenty of time to enter this challenge, it goes for a month.  I love working with these designs.  They are so detailed that they always turn out great.  Go here for more details on the challenge.

                   Here is  my card.
I printed my images from the Rose and Chamomile digital stamp set before I am going to color it.  I also heat set it for good measure.  That seemed to do the trick as there was no bleeding of the ink.  Cheryl Scrivens have me some great hints on the digital images when I was having trouble.   It's all about the ink.
Back to the card.  I used three of the images that I printed, One single rose and two of the bouquets. I idea was to have a cluster of beautiful roses and then the sentiment would show when you pulled on the tab at the top.  I used a die from MFT to accomplish the mechanism.
Kraft base, layer of Charcoal Brown and then a layer of Bazzill embossed card stock that I sponged with Distressed ink in Antique Linen.  I also added three of the frames in white, from Frantic Frames, Fancy Frames #1.  Then I added the rose digital images colored with copic markers and placed so that they would look like a huge bouquet.

Here is the look at the inside

When you pull out the tab at the top, the sentiment shows.  It is also a digital from the same Roses and Chamomile set. You can resize it to make it anyway that you want. I have someone in mind who has a November Birthday.  Now I am way ahead of my birthday cards for November.

Thanks for brightening my day with your comments.

Make It Monday #264: Die-cut Stencil Shapes

Melissa Phillips shows us how to a stencil effect with the dies that you have in your craft room.  You can join in the fun and see HOW to do it here.

I decided to use a die called Star Scribbles set.   After cutting out the die, I used it for a stencil on my back ground.  Placing it in various area of the paper.  Then I sponged with PTI Aqua Mist ink.  I also used a die called Present.  For the main part of the present, I used gingham and then die cut the outline from white card stock.  I wanted to create a darker monochromatic look, so I sponged that with Distress ink in Evergreen Bough.    If you look closer at the background behind the present, I actually used the stencil on the card too.  Then some added stars and glitter to make it more Happy!

I will be entering this one in the Make it Monday #264 challenge.

That for brightening my day with your comments.

Power & Spark for October

Each month the challenge at Power Poppy is a challenge for designer power and creative spark, just as the image above says.  As you can see, this month we are to create and make it MOVE.  I had to do some research for this.  I looked at You Tube and found THIS, a surprise by the funny and creative Allison Cope.  Check it out, she will make you laugh for sure.
My card design is a bit different from Allison's as I remembered the Magical Card and I decided to do that instead.  Magical card you will find that here.

This card is more of an exercise in Paper Engineering, than creative, but it is a challenge and here is what I got.
I added some interest to the front, but you have to be careful where you put things as this card moves!
I even made the back side more interesting by using a punch.  Still not exciting.

Here is the fun part.

Here are the supplies:  Power Poppy Stamp set Party Time.
12 X12 scrapbook paper in dark brown
My Favorite Things Sweet Celebrations paper pack
Two white brads and white ribbon from my stash

I will be entering this in the Power and Spark Challenge HERE

Thanks for brightening my day with your comments.
