Seize the Birthday - Water

Here it is the month of August,  and it is time for another two-week challenge at
Seize the Birthday!
This time there is a topping and it is Water.

If you're not a toppings kinda person, can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!
Here is my first example for you.   Yes, I made two cards.
This card has big rain drops on a background of alcohol ink and Yupo paper.  The stamps used for it are Water Effect, Designs by Ryn.  Flower and hummingbird are Gina K Designs, Hello Friend and Stamper's Favorite.  The scalloped rectangle dies in Memory box.

I put some glossy effects on some of the drops.

I thought that I would show you the first card that I did.  I was experimenting with alcohol inks and papers.   This card has two layers Yupo on the bottom and over the top acetate, both done with alcohol inks.
I added the Whale from Clearly Besotted Whale Done and the sentiment from MFT Magical Dragon. Can you see the waves, I stamped them with MFT Otterly Love You stamp.

Trina Pham is our new Surprise Party Guest for the next few months.

Check her blog out and see what she has in her closet
Be sure to see what the rest of the design team has for you at Seize the Birthday!

Thanks for stopping in!  Enjoy and I will be looking for your creative entries.

  1. WOW! That background on your 1st card looks amazing! Your flower is beautiful and look how you created that fantastic ruby throated hummingbird...oh so clever, my dear! Your 2nd card is just as wonderful, it's quite magical...and happy! Great use of inks!

  2. Wow, these are fabulous. Love the layering technique.

  3. Two wonderful cards using the water theme. I love that hummingbird the way you colored it too.

  4. Gorgeous backgrounds - those drops are fun too

  5. Beautiful backgrounds on both cards. Love the pretty flower and hummingbird on the first card. Glad you were experimenting with the alcohol inks. They are fun to play with.

  6. Pretty backgrounds for the flower and whale cards. Two greart cards for this challenge, and the rain drops are perfect.

  7. You are rockin' those alcohol inks. Well done, aren't they fun? You have used two stamp sets that I own and have neglected for awhile. i LOVE Ryn's stamps and have forgotten about them. Those raindrops are perfect with the hummingbird and flower. I love the whole look. I kinda like the scalloped panel too, need to look into that die. Really great cards, my dear!!!

  8. The backgrounds on both cards are beautiful! I've never used Yupo paper or alcohol inks. Oh my gosh, I can't buy anymore stuff. lol Love the beautiful hummingbird and your cute little whale. Both cards are very sweet!

  9. Both the cards look absolutely awesome, Barbara! The colors look great on the first and I loved the look of layers on the second! Wonderful inspirations!
