Double D Challenge - Kentucky Derby Hat Inspiration

You are going to have to really think about this challenge.  I am just going to repeat what the challenge says.  There are so many choices.
Kentucky Derby Hat Inspiration
Be inspired by what you see on these hats,
maybe it's the colors, flowers even the horse...
look closely there is plenty...
does NOT have to be a hat!

The Prize

I hope that you see a hat here!  That was what I was going for and I think I did it.  You can do it too, but if not, I will be amazed at what you do.  Note:  I went to the Kentucky Derby once a long time ago and didn't even see a horse.  We were sitting in the crowded infield and I could not get close enough to the track to see them.  I just saw a cloud of dust!  So there you go, more inspiration for you.

Here is how I made this effect.  I cut two circles, one smaller and the other.  Put them in an embossing folder that looked like the inspiration picture. I sponged the edges with gray for the shading.  Then I stamped and watercolored the flowers and placed them on the hat.  The stamp is Altenew Peony Bouquet.
I would love to see what you all do with this one, enter at Double D Challenge.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are motivated to join in the fun.

  4. Barbara, this is so creative! I love your hat design and the embossing looks amazing. Reminds me of the netting that used to be on women's hats. Your matching envelopes are always a beautiful sight too.
