For this challenge at Seize the Birthday, it was my turn to pick a topping. I picked one that you will find fun and you probably have done a lot of them. So why don't you kick it up a notch and do something out of your comfort zone? I did!
The toppings are for this challenge.
"Butterflies"
If you're not a toppings kind of person, well.....you can just
stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!
Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!
Please welcome, Su Mohr our Surprise Party Guest for
July and August.
You can find her blog here.
Here is the card that I did for this challenge.
Used the Simon Says background stamp in white embossing powder and heat set it. Then colored the panel with Distressed Inks in Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint and Shaded Lilac. Then I die cut that background panel with Penny Black Antique Frames die. The butterfly is from GKD Stately Flowers and I stamped them on watercolor paper and used watercolors to bring them to life. If you look closely, there are some Nuvo drops in clear here and there.
If you need more inspiration, please go to the Seize the Birthday blog.
There is lots of talent there.
Thanks for stopping and leaving a comment. I adore them.
LOVE your butterflies, they are perfectly colored. Really great hues here. Also love that you die cut the background with those Penny Black dies, they look so vintage. Wonderful card, and really wonderful challenge. Who doesn't like to make a card full of butterflies?
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous with all the pretty butterflies. Wonderful colors too.
ReplyDeleteLove everything in this card - the background, the color blending, the double die cuts..but most of all, the beautiful butterflies! The watercoloring that you've done on them is just fabulous, Barbara! Totally loved it!
ReplyDeletePretty colored bflies!
ReplyDeleteLove the embossed butterfly background along with your coloring on the pretty butterflies.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That background is gorgeous, love that die cut too! You can't go wrong with butterflies and all of yours are beautiful! I keep checking my Butterfly Weeds to see if I have any caterpillars, I am bound and determined to 'grow some butterflies' lol Next year I may just purchase them! (it's really a thing) FAB card!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe those butterflies are not cut from designer paper. Honestly, blows my mind! You have got to do this card again with the same butterflies and make it one layer...just a suggestion! So much talent!!!! Don't even need to mention that gorgeous background!
ReplyDeleteHi there, thanks for stopping by my blog and taking time to leave a nice comment which brings me to why I'm here. The stamp set featuring my kitties is called Oh My Whiskers and is by Honey Bee Stamps, as is the sentiment :) x
