Come on and join us for this challenge. All you crafty people out there, young and old, you can do it. I think in these times, people really appreciate a card in the mail to perk up their day.
If you would rather not follow our topping of Hearts, just remember to make it a birthday card
We see cardinals every day on our bird feeder. They are so pretty and that is why I got this cute Sizzix die as a freebie from Simon Says Stamp with purchase. I have stamps, but this is my first die. I just used distressed inks on watercolor paper and then die cut it out. Added some hearts from the same watercolor paper and one in red foil. After all the topping is Hearts. The green boughs are from The Greetery, Botanical Pine Boughs. Added my Sentiment and that is all.
Our Surprise Party Guest for February and March is Carol Mayne.

You really need to take a look at the Seize the Birthday blog to see what the other team members had done to inspire you. I hope to see you there.
Barbara I am so impressed with your cardinal (I love them too, but we don't have them so much in the PNW!) and to think you watercolored a die cut is even more impressive. I love your background heart too! Awesome card, Barbara!
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunner, Barbara! I love the depth the watercoloured paper brings to your beautiful cardinal. A pop of shine, some greenery - perfection!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty cardinal. You did a great job with the watercolors and having the matching die cut heart is a plus.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your colors here, they are so rich and gorgeous. Great use of that die, that cardinal just POPS!!! And using that big heart in the middle to showcase the bird is GENIUS! The addition of the greenery adds so much as well. Really beautiful, I like everything about it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. The heart shows off the cardinal so well. Great coloring!
ReplyDeleteThat is the prettiest cardinal die I have ever seen. Curious what colors of distress ink did you use? Did you move the color with water? I love the effect you got. Fabulous card.
ReplyDeleteYour heart + cardinal combination makes for an eye-catching, gorgeous card. Love the rich reds. Thrilled to be guest designing with you and the team for the next couple of months!

ReplyDeleteI'm envious of your cardinal sightings - we don't have them here and I don't think I've ever seen one on my travels. This is such a gorgeous card - such rich and beautiful reds are great with the white background and pop of green. Perfect card for the hearts challenge.
ReplyDeleteThe watercolored Cardinal looks so natural! I love that you can see different red shades on him! A beautiful heart card!
