Seize the Birthday #217 Use an Embossing Folder

Welcome to another fun challenge at Seize the Birthday! For the next two weeks, Ashwini is our host and she has asked us to use an embossing folder.

Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!

If you're not a toppings kinda person, can just

stick with our usual "Anything Goes"Birthday!

The choice is yours!

Using an embossing folder is an easy technique, but I went to Youtube and Jennifer McGuire for some inspiration. I found this one that uses ink on your folder.  I made several before I decided on the one that I wanted to use. I found that the distress ink needed several passes, where the Gina K and PTI ink only needed one. I will use these others for future cards, but for this challenge, I used the Peach Bellini.
The one on the far right in this picture.

The embossing folder is Sizzix 3D folder called Botanical
I pretty much when with the design that I saw on Jennifer's video
If this is not your type of technique, just go to her search and type in embossing.  She has lots of them.

I made a frame from some of the dies that I had just like Jennifer did. Then I used a butterfly from Memory Box that was laying on my desk. The sentiment is a preprinted one from Simon Says. These 3D embossing folders really give dimension and look amazing on a card. Oh, I did add three gems.

Our Surprise Party Guest Melanie Hungerford for the next couple of months.   You can find her blog here.  The entire team has lots of inspiration for your entry.

Give it a try!

Thanks for stopping by and I always appreciate your comments!

  1. This is so pretty! I have had little luck with inking embossing folders this way, but now you've got me wondering if it's the type of ink I've used. Your results are gorgeous!

  2. I love the color you chose for your card and the technique you used with the ink. I have done that before and love how it turns out pretty no matter which EF you use. The butterfly and frame are great embellishments.

  3. Jennifer definitely has loads of EF techniques. And I love how you've adopted that to create these wonderful embossed panels and that beautiful cards! It looks simply gorgeous with that frame and that butterfly.

  4. Beautiful card and I love the embossing folder used for it.

  5. I adore inking of a folder -- this turned out awesome! Gotta love that JM for instructions :)

  6. I love your card! That is a gorgeous folder you used and the butterfly just pops so nicely on that color. Thank you for inviting me to be your guest at Seize the Birthday!

  7. This is so pretty and now you have three more ready to go in a pinch. Love the color! Hope you are well!

  8. Peach Bellini is a lovely color! I love the added frame and the butterfly in the same color tone like the background which completes your monochromatic card!

  9. Beautiful embossed background, Barb! I need to experiment more with different inks on my folders.

  10. This is so striking with peach & white! Goes perfectly with the butterfly.
I always forget to ink my embossing folders - thanks for the reminder! I'll have to try different inks too.

  11. This looks fabulous Barbara, TFS the link to Jennifer's technique too, I need to try this! Love the frame and gorgeous butterfly too, must've been something in the air lol! Sorry for the late comment, technology issues...looking for a new laptop! Cathy x
