Make it Monday #210

The challenge at Make it Monday is to use vellum to soften patters. I have this pack of design papers from Gina K Designs that I have not used because it is so bold.  Often that much design, just takes away form the design of the card.  This is a great solution to that problem.  I will get right to it.

I am happy with how this turned out.  Here is what I used.

GKD Ocean Mist card stock and Design paper, Ang and Me
PTI Vellum, Sheer Basics Pattern Pack
Simon Says die Stitched Slopes and Hills
PTI banner die, Tinsel and Tags
Sentiment PTI, Phrase Play #11
Jewels from my stash and flower and butter fly fussy cut from the design paper fro accents

I hope that you like it too, and thanks so much for dropping in and leaving a comment.  I really appreciate them.
That will be all of the crafting for me this week.  We are off on another adventure, but I will be watching to see what you are doing.

A little picket fence card

I am entering this card in these three challenges today.

It is Photo week and isn't this a lovely spring photo of tulips.

Seize the Birthday, anything goes, and this week the topping is...

Make your own background.

Power Poppy has a Pop of Pastel

This is the second card that I am entering in this challenge.  I can't help myself, Love their stamp sets, and I just got this one.

Ingredients:
Power Poppy Stamp set, Short Stacks
Lil'inker tag die
IO die, picket fence
Background is watercolor first and then I used an embossing folder and some clear powder.  It shines, but. alas, You can't see the glory of it.
I also put glossy accents on the watering can and the plate under the cupcake.
The tag....is a long story.  I found some metal tape on my husbands work desk.  He will never miss it.  Stuck it to some card stock and then die cut it.  Next I dabbed Copper 3D stamp paint and later, more Distressed in to make it look old.  It is quite shinny, and I took so many pictures to get one without the glare.  I also am using a NEW camera and it has more buttons and whistles that you can imagine.

Thanks for stopping in, I love to see you here.

Mod Squad Challenge

Encouragement is the theme for this weeks Mod Squad Challenge

I was playing around and having fun with watercolors the other day.  I did quite a few for practice.  I liked this one the best, so I made this card for the challenge with it.  Take a peek at the other practice ones.

I used various stamps Distress Inks and then a brush with very little water to make these.  The butterfly is GKD, the Lilac is from Power Poppy and the arrangement is from Wplus9.

You can see on the butterfly wing, that I used too much water.

Watch the video by Dawn Woleslagle HERE.  This is just one, as she has many.

 Here is my card.

I saw this card a few weeks ago done by Debbie Hughes.  I  got the die that was used to make it soon after that. The die is an umbrella turned upside down and made into a shaker.

Make It Monday #209:

Make It Monday #209: White on White Die Cuts With a Pop of Color

I had to clean off my desk top before making this card.  You see it had to be white on white.  Scary!
Usually, when I try to make a white card, I get a smudge on it at the last minute. Something always happens like that.  So I cleaned and then made with card. You can see how Lexi did it Here.
Here is my card.

I used the Wet Paint stamp set for the sentiment and embossed with gold powder. The die is Sketched Stars both from PTI.  On the large star, I used a new technique for me that I earned at the Scrapbook Expo that I went to last weekend.  It uses double sticky foam and Deco foil.
I am entering this card in the Make it Monday #209 challenge this week.
Thanks so much for your kind comments as always.

She makes me smile

This is a new challenge using Art Impressions Stamps.  I bought a few at a recent craft fair.  It was so hard to only buy a few, but this one was so cute, there was no choice.  Nellie is now mine.
You can pose her so many different ways, but here, she is looking over a fence.  I did the inside of the card with a stamp from SU that I have  for a long time, but this is the first time using it.  It is called Trees Three.  Then I sponged some clouds with a stencil that I made.  The sentiment is computer generated from a cute saying that I found on the internet.

She is smiling like she knows something that you don't know.

Maybe she is right!

This was a fun card that I will enter in the Art Impressions Challenge #157 "Make Me Smile"

Pink May Flowers

I made this card today and used a new stamp set from Power Poppy called Simply Camellias.
The flower in the bowl of water was so fun to color.  I used Copic markers, always fun to color.  You can shade the image and make it look almost real.

You can Pin this if you like it.  I have a button for that.

Here are the ingredients:
Power Poppy stamp and sentiment, Simply Camellias
Sizzix die, scalloped edge
Simon Says Die, Heart Parade
Card stock is from SU and I used two shades of pink
Heidi Swapp Color Shine, Rose, on the top of the panel
Embossing powder Liquid Platinum
Pink rhinestone from my stash

I will be entering this card in these challenges.

Think of me tomorrow as I attend a Scrapbook Expo in Milwaukee with my friend Mary Lou.  She is the only crafty friend that I can actually touch.  I am excited to go again this year, but my challenge for this trip, is to be more conscious of my spending.  I will not come home with something that I will have no idea how to use.  That is my challenge.  Hope I make it.
Thanks for stopping by, I will let you know how I do.

Life's a Beach, Play Like a Kid

This card will be entered in two challenge this week.  JUGS is having a Trend Week and asking for shaker cards.  Always fun to do, and sometimes very sticky!  Stamp TV MIUM challenge was a bit more complicated.  They were asking for a card that represents a movie.  Any movie, could be your favorite or one that you hate.  Well, for me, my absolute favorite was The Shaw Shank Redemption.
I had to put my thinking cap on for that, but quickly remembered that it ended up with a scene on the beach.  Now I got something!

Here is the card that I did.
The ingredients:
GKD card base and design paper from Pool Side
Die cuts for PTI, Shakers and Sprinkles and Spellbinders Fleur De Lis
GKD stamp sets, Hello Sunshine and By the Sea 2 (inside)
sequins from my stash

I remembered to complete the inside of this card as well.

Mod Squad Butterfly Focal

A quick card to get in at the last minute on the Mod Squad Challenge this week.  We are to make a project with a butterfly as the focal point. I have had this SU stamp called Swallowtail, for quite awhile and have only used it a few times and almost forgot about it.  It is the perfect stamp for this challenge.
On Navy CS from GKD, I layered light blue SU cardstock and then a layer of White GKD layering weight CS.
The Butterfly is stamped in versa mark and then white embossing powder was used.  In this case the powder is so old, that it looks rather cream color.  I will need to remember that when I use it again.
Next I sponged the entire image with Faded Jeans Distressed ink and stamped the vines with Navy ink from GKD and her stamp set called Summer Blooms.  The sentiment is from Power Poppy Daffodils.

Thanks for stopping in, I have not made a card in a few days
and I think I was going through withdrawal!  Glad that is over.
Thanks for leaving the little bits of love, they are appreciated.

Spring Daffodils

Spring is definitely in the air.  The birds are singing every morning and the temps are getting warmer.  Yesterday was a beautiful Easter Sunday, we even went for along walk.  Although I have not seen any flowers as yet, the Stems are pushing out of the soil.  Soon!
I made this card for several challenges, here is it.

The ingredients are:
GKD heavy Ivory card stock
Avery Elle Sorbet collections
SU yellow card stock with Swiss Dots embossing folder and Distressed ink, mustard seed,  sponged on the edge
Spellbinder dies, Pendant, and Labels One
PTI die, Bookmark
Power Poppy Dancing Daffodils digital image
Sentiment is from Power Poppy Azalea set
Colored with Pentech colored pencils
Judy Dots

I also wanted you to see the inside.  Because this is a digital image, I was able to make it different sizes.  I also found that if I used the grid on my cameo machine, I could take out parts of the image.

In this card, I only wanted the blue flowers on the bottom and after doing that, I increased the size.  Then I colored them and fussy cut them out to put on the inside with a greeting.
This card will be entered in these challenges.

From the Desk of Barbara

Today I am using a stamp set that I have had and have not used before.  Don't we all have those?  Come on, I am sure you do.  I love this image and don't know why I had not used it before.  It is from Marcella Hawley when she was designing for Flourishes, no longer available.
I will be entering this card in the Mod Squad challenge and the Simon says challenge this week.  Wonderful prizes and if you don't enter, you don't win.

http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/  My friend Kathy Krug came up with a fun challenge.

I have done the bottom horizontal line.

Happy Birthday Simon Says!

Simon Says is celebrating their 6th birthday and the prizes a many.  As a matter of fact, 6 of them will be given away.  I am so in for this!

Here is the card I did to wish Simon Says a Happy Birthday!

I used MFT cardstock in Primitive White for the base, and cut another panel to fit on top of that just a 1/4 inch smaller than the base.  On that piece,, I used clear embossing powder and Hero Arts background stamp called Highline Ironwork.  Then I sponged with distress ink to get this effect.
The rest is Simon Says Stamp and dies called Flower Scribbles, and Happy Birthday die.
The flowers are popped out for dimension, and the Happy Birthday is cut out three times and glued together for even more dimension.  I put wink of Stella on the sentiment and then some Glossy Accents.   The hardest part was the little "dot" in the birthday.

Thanks for stopping in, I much appreciate your comments.

Mod Squad Challenge

Tick Tack Toe

My friend Kathy Krug is hosting the challenge this week at the Mod Squad.
She has really give us some interesting choices in what she calls TICK TACK TOE!
all you need to do is to create a card using one of the lines in this grid.  Sweet!

I have chosen the middle horizontal line.

Embossing, Die cut, Coloring Markers
http://modsquadchallenge.blogspot.com/

Here is the card that I made for this challenge.
Here it is April 2, and it is raining but rather warm this morning.  I always think of April as the showers that bring May flowers.  That's what I was thinking when I made this card.

I used a base of GKD Fresh Asparagus card stock, and some patterned paper from my stash.
I cut a Spellbinder border die on the printed paper and separated the cuts a bit.
On the lighter  Bazzill Green Tea card stock, I stamped the water drops with clear embossing powder.  I have been working with this stamp from Designs by Ryn, to get the effect that I want.  I think that I did it here, but I used a paint brush with bleach, and my white gel pen to get the look.
The umbrella and sentiment is from GKD stamp set, Weather or Not.  The umbrella is stamped on vellum and colored on the back side with Copic Marker YR09.
On the side is a strip of gold foil paper to dress it up.
Here is a close up of the punched flowers.

Today is a good day to stay in and craft, but I have a meeting to go to and then an Aunt to visit. I have two elderly Aunts that are into their 90's.  I try to visit them several times a month.  They make me so happy to have the life that I have.

Thanks Kathy for this fun challenge, and thank you all for stopping in to see what it is that I do.
As always, I appreciate the comments that you leave.
