My Favorite Things Lesson #5

Print

Summer School is over and I will miss it for sure.  Can't wait to tell my grandkids that I went, and got all of my home work done.
Lesson #5   Quiet Space/ White Space
It does not have to be white.  You can find all of the details if you click Here.

Here is my homework.

For this card, I used Cardstock and design paper from GKD Pool Side pack.  The image and sentiment is Pure Innocence from My Umbrella.
The umbrella is paper pieced image of colored with copic markers.  Her boots have Glossy Accents on them,  I simply die cut the squares in the Background with the MFT Crossed-stitched squares and for a little more interest, I die cut a Memory Box die called Lenora Bloom and used part of it.

I will be missing in action for a few weeks, not to worry, we are off on an adventure.
Thanks for dropping in as always and leaving some love.  I do appreciate them.

Lesson #4 – Balance: Line

Summer school is almost over and this lesson was a bit hard for me.  We needed to show how line is so important when drawing the eye to the card that you are making.
I took inspiration from the Seize the Birthday challenge, and used just neutral colors, so that the line would be very important.
I will be entering this card in the My Favortie Things, summer School Lesson #4 and Seize the Birthday

Lesson #4 Balance: Line can be seen Here
Seize the Birthday, make a Birthday card - Toppings today are "Nothing but Neutrals"
Check it out Here

Here is my Homework

Believe it or not, this is a one layer card.  I saw this technique and had to try it.  I started with a stencil that I made on my Cameo.  I inked it with Kraft ink From GKD and then moved the stencil slightly, and inked again with a lighter hybrid ink called New Canvas.  The banner is a Simon Says die and I used the Happy Birthday from MFT stamp set The Whole Heard, and the sentiment and dog are from MFT I Woof You.  I love how this has so much texture and yet, will be easy to mail.
Thanks so much for dropping in to see what I have been up to.  Today is a beautiful day to be outside.  That is where you will find me.

Your comments make me so happy, I do appreciate them.  Have a great weekend.

My Favorite Things Summer School Lesson #1

Print

I never had to go to summer school.  In my day, if you when to summer school, it was not a good thing.  It is so much different now, even my children when to summer school, to learn more and have fun.  That is why I am so excited to participate in the Summer School that My Favorite Things is doing this week.

Lesson #1 – Composition: Rule of Thirds  You can find the lesson HERE

Here is my homework.

Base is GKD card stock Yellow Corn
Bassill card stock in Green Tea
I dry embossed the stars from the Die-namics pierced star stax and sponged with ink to make it stand out more.
Die cuts from Die-namics Magical Memories are scattered above
PI Fairy Girl is colored with copics and fussy cut and pop with foam tape, and well as the mushroom.
I put WOS on the yellow stars and  her wings, and glossy accents on the hearts and shoes.  The rhinestone is from my stash.
This is a birthday card for my granddaughter Anne, who will be 14 years old.   Her gift will be a shopping day with me!  We both love to shop.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love, it makes me very happy and I do appreciate them.

Make It Monday #214

Stamping with Neutrals is the challenge this week.  You can see how Dawn from Paper Trey Ink demonstrated it HERE
I wanted to used this stamp set again, and I had an occasion to make a card.  Surprise!  My sister and BIL are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary this month.  Good thing she doesn't look at my blog!
Here it is!

PTI  Stamps and dies, Quilted Spring and
Big Hugs
GKD card stock in Ivory
SU inks, Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, and Sahara Sand
Pearls from my stash and colored with copic marker.

I die cut the word HUGS three times and layered them for a textured effect.  I stamped it with the Sahara Sand and wink of Stella and then a layer of Crystal Effects.  I wish you could see the sparkle.

Now I have to finish the inside with a touching sentiment for their special anniversary.

Thanks so much for stopping in and leaving comments, they make me happy and I am very grateful.

Seize the Birthday

I needed a birthday card for my Brother-in-law this month and I decided to enter it in the Seize the Birthday Challenge too.  The toppings are "Animals!"

Ha ha ha!  I can't stop laughing about this card.  I hope he thinks it funny too.
This is the Birthday Beagle from Art Impressions.  It is a front and back, but I think I may have used it the wrong way.  This is what I wanted to accomplish, a happy dog wagging his tail on the front.........

And you see him on the inside with a chewed up gift in his mouth.

I used Steel Gray card stock from MFT
Design paper from my stash
Art Impression Birthday Beagle
Sentiment is computer generated
Colored with Copic markers and Wink of Stella
Simon Says Happy Birthday die in scraps of red card stock
MFT Cross-Stitched Circle dies
Black Dots from my stash

Thanks so much for the lovely comments I am very much encouraged by them.  Thank You!

Chickadee Hello

This cute little bird die reminds me of the chickadees that are eating out of our bird feeder.  Of course, they are not this color, but I was inspired by the colors on the challenge for
Sparkle and Shine.   HERE
I am also entering this card in Scrappy Land Challenge #19 Anything Goes.HERE

I was very inspired by the ombre green, and although I didn't have the mint green, I used the greens that I had.  SU Certainly Celery and Distressed Bundled Sage and Color Shine, Chartreuse.

Here is my card.

I did the ombre effect on plain white card stock and then cut out the fronds with a die.  Then on another piece of white card stock I again did the green ombre with the inks and placed a stencil over the top and sprayed with the Color Shine.  The bird is from the same die.
I used Memory Box Garden Leafy Branches stencil
Memory box die Finnegan Fronds
The grass on the bottom is a free die that I got from My Favorite Things.
I wish you could see this IRL, I used Wink of Stella on the bird.

Thanks so much for stopping in.  Your comments make me very happy.

Make It Monday #213: Cool Condensation Effects

This is something that I have done in the past, but I had not used the technique in while and had forgotten about it.  That is too bad, as adding a condensation effect to cards makes them look so real.
This is my second post for today, so I am going to get right to it.

The ingredients:
Base is PTI card stock in Soft Stone
PTI vellum Sheer Basics
Spellbinders Shapeabilities die Foliage Lattice
PTI Delightful Dahlias stamp and matching dies
SU ink in Almost Amethyst and Lavender Lace
Liquid pearls in Petal Pink and Glossy Accents

This will be send out today for the husband of a friend who past away last week.  I really don't like to make sympathy cards.  Those dew drops could be tears.

Queen of your thoughts!

I made this card for two challenges this week.

The color challenge at My Favorite Things   http://www.cardchallenges.com/search/label/colorchallenge

 Simon Says Monday Challenge      http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/

Here are the colors

for Simon Says the Challenge is Royal
I interpreted this stamp set to mean that you are the Queen of your day!  Just start it with Whee!

Here is my card

Don't you just love this idea?  I sure do, if I start my day with Whee... the rest just gets better.
